Pretty Good Restaurant

This place is totally worth the extra cost. You could go into town and spend less but the food and views are well worth every penny!

I went in for a salad only. Spectacular views. The salad was good ... With grilled vegetables. Server was attentive.

The location and its views are the best part of this restaurant. Being seated was a challenge, even with a reservation. Water dripped from a ceiling vent onto the back of one of our party. The food, once ordered and received, was overcooked and quite bland. The elk had a nasty, gamey flavor. Prices are quite high. The server was... More

Our food was superb and with a beautiful presentation. Kids menu was varied and the main menu looked so good it was hard to decide- so we are going two nights. The drinks were tasty and strong - the dessert divine - tres leches cake and a cannoli like dream - pictured after we realized how good it was. Poblano... More

Our meal at the Metate Room was outstanding. We had the Elk Shepherd's Pie (it is "deconstructed" and as such is not in a pie crust) and the steak filet. Both were exceptionally good. I will say that we asked our waitress for her recommendation and that probably steered us in a good direction. I have noticed on several reviews... More

A memorable dinner with a great view. Great menu with good veg options and friendly service. One of the better meals I've had in a national park.

I have eaten here twice about five years apart. Both times the food has been pleasing and well-prepared. Bar drinks were pretty good. Hostesses and the man who brought the bread and water all were polite and paying attention, but our actual waiter was not. The biggest consequence of this was one of us got the wrong dish and had... Incredible views of the national park from the dining room. The food is genuinely nothing at all special. "Fine" dining, it ain't. First the good bits: the service is great, the views spectacular and it's pretty good to find a restaurant of this nature in a national park. But the food is distinctly average. My medallions of beef were a... More

Lynn and I spent two nights in Mesa Verde National Park. There is very little dining selection inside the park. This restaurant is their answer to fine dining. I had the Apple Salad with Walnuts which was good. Lynn had the corn crusted trout which she said smelled fishy and it was much too dry. The waiter was slow, but... More
