Delicious Fair on Top of a Mountain!

Great food. Great service. Gorgeous views. We loved everything about the Metate Room. Be sure to ask your server for recommendations as they have tried all the food. Good local selections. Delicious bread basket with black bean hummus from dove creek as well!

The food was good. It was NOT five stars, but was far better than standard family restaurant fare. We had tortilla crusted chicken and the elk shepard's pie. It was delicious, especially after a long day hiking. There is also a kid's menu, which we were grateful for, as our children would not have enjoyed the more sophisticated fare. All... More

Touted as a 5 star restaurant, you will enjoy excellent food in a casual atmosphere. The menu is varied with local produce and specials, but a little pricy. There is a children's menu as well. The dining room was rather full the evening we went, so service was not as attentive as one would expect for 5 stars. Lovely view... More

As we gazed across the scenic panorama, we feasted on rattlesnake/pheasant sausage, a full quail, chile relleno, and local (Colorado) beers and wines. Service was intelligent and friendly. This was the perfect cap to a day of sight-seeing and history in pueblo country. Not to be missed!

We had a table in front of the windows with beautiful views. Food was very good and service was very friendly and attentive. Make a reservation as the restaurant fills up at prime dining times.

Staying at the Far View Lodge, it was an obvious choice to eat at Metate Room. Given our disappointment with the Lodge itself, due to noise, our expectations were not high. Normally, restaurants in a unique location rely on their monopoly situation and don't deliver the goods in terms of food and service. Not the Metate Room. We were welcomed... More

The view into the park from the breakfast area is great. Food was buffet style and good, the usual combination of eggs, baked goods, bacon, etc

We have stayed at the Far View Lodge numerous times and one of the reasons we enjoy it so is the excuse to dine here nightly - it is an event not to be rushed. The wait staff is wonderful, no matter who you get, the view is spectacular, no matter where you sit and the food is delicious, no... More

Before our visit I had some idea that the Metate Room may not be you average, run-of-the-mill national park concessionaire restaurant. Depsite some rave reviews, I remained skeptical. Metate Room ended up being one of our splurge dinners during an otherwise "austere" dining budget during our vacation. Our family thoroughly enjoyed having dinner here. While the entrees were expensive (between... More

Talk about surprised! I couldn't believe how good the food is at dinner. The steak I had is right up at the top of any I have ever had. The filet was even better. The menu is creative and well executed. We were so happy that we went back again the second night. You are probably better off sticking with... More
