We ate in the Metate Room our first night in Mesa Verde. The food was very good and the service fine. The room is fairly crowded and a bit noisy, but did have nice views to the east. The next 2 nights we ate at the upstairs lounge. They had a small, but delicious, menu. I had the prickly chicken... More

after touring Mesa Verde park we stopped at the Metate Room- they were busy but our wait for a table for 2 was less than 30 minutes. Our meal was wonderful-very unique Southwestern flavored food is served here. Most tables are provided with a view thru the windows of the outlying mesas-very nice at sunset.Expect to pay about $25.00-35.00 per person which... Very fresh, flavorful food. We split everything as portions were ample. Although they seem to be known for their wild game items, we split a vegetable salad complete with sundried cherries, the vegetarian pasta, and best of all, if you have a sweet tooth, the carrot cake. Good view, good wait staff, and wine list, promised adaptability to gluten free/vegan,... More

If staying at the lodge and if you love wine and good food you have no choice but eating there; you will know what I mean once you climb 15 miles to a 9000 elevation or so ....Lucky you ! We were so delighted by the service, innovative food at a reasonable price, when any place could just make sure of... More

If you are staying at the Far View Lodge, this is your only option for dinner - and that's a good thing! The view from any table is breathtaking! The menu has a southwestern flavor with the West mixed in - elk, boar, quail, trout, vegetarian offerings and more. The presentation of each plate is superb and the food is... More

Given how basic the Far View accommodations are, I was a little surprised to find a genuinely upscale restaurant on premises. The Far View staff are clearly proud of the Metate Room, and with good reason. Far from being a minimal offering to a captive audience, this is a restaurant that would hold its own in a large city. The... More

Wife & I agreed if we ever lived in the Four Corners area, dinner at the Metate Room alone would be worth the drive into Mesa Verde. Top-shelf service and atmosphere. The food would hold its own at restaurants in Chicago or New York or anywhere. ... Hard to believe this upscale experience could be found in a National Park.... More

Very tasty meals in a nice setting. We dined twice during our stay at the Far View Lodge. Pork, chicken, quail and turkey were all well prepared and nicely presented on the plate. SW spices are the predominant flavour. The wild boar starter was overpriced and very well seasoned to the extent that the meat could have been from any... More

The food at the Metate Room at Far View Lodge in Mesa Verde National Park is high quality and well prepared, appropriate for a fine restaurant in a national park. I have eaten there several times and most recently enjoyed the cinnamon chile pork tenderloin. The food is consistently good, reasonably priced and with excellent service.

We have been to many of our National Parks and the dining can be spotty at best. This was one of the best meals we have had in a NP. It is a fine dining experience that you do not have to dress up for. Trail wear acceptible. The food was great and the service was too. We had dinner... More
