Very friendly staff. Free hot and cold snacks put on the bar for patrons. Frequented by the locals as well as visitors. Good beer and Rioja ( we liked the local red wine) We ate on a couple of occasions and both visits were worthwhile - particularly impressed as we seemed to be the only English people there but were... This is the second time we come to Cudillero and to the Casona de la Paca, however, it was the first time we had gone to El Faro, which was recommended by our hotel. Wonderful advice! The food was good, we had the croquetas de jamon to start, they were soft and tasty, and then the arroz con bogavante, which... More

We stayed in Oviedo for a week, taking buses each day to surrounding towns. The second bus driver recommended we try El Faro, arriving a little after 1 on a Thursday, a bit early for lunch in Spain but it was a good thing we did because the restaurant filled up very quickly. We had one of the few outdoor... More

We wanted to try the traditional Asturian fabada - which is a stew with fava beans - here they did the meat (pork belly, chorizo and morcilla) and the one with clams. Both were excellent and huge portions. The starters were huge too - we reckoned we could have shared one starter and one main and had plenty to eat... More

El Faro was recommended by our hotel. We had a steak and a Risotto, the steak was massive, cooked just right and tender. The Risotto had a nice variety of mushrooms and plenty of flavour. The atmosphere and staff were laid back and welcoming, the restaurant itself was quite elegant. My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and would... More

We too were at El Faro on the recommendation of Casona de la Paca, and were very pleased with the result. Not much was open in post-Easter Cudillero. Tucked away behind the fish market off the main plaza, few people were in the restaurant, but the freshness of the food and the service did not reflect a slow time. We... More

The restaurant was empty when we got there and almost empty when we left! We should have known better. Certainly not the worst restaurant I have eaten at but the food was very average and my wife says tasteless. It was our first night in Cudillero and we just needed food so from that respect it was fine, but only... More

We went there yesterday and had a wonderful dinner. Small scallops as starter and a fantastic 'San Martin (St Pierre in French... :-)) a la plancha'. They recommended an excellent and affordable white wine etc. A great place to recommend for a relaxed and tasty Spanish dinner.

Considering that this is a quite upmarket place, this is surprisingly good value. The quality of the food and also the choice of options for each course was well above average. Do not miss the flan con chocolate blanco if it is offered!

We ate at this restaurant twice during our three night stay in Cudilero. I can highly recommend the scallops and the lobster with rice. The staff were very nice. We didn't like the wine on the first night, however that was due to our poor Spanish and had a semi-sweet wine rather than dry wine. After checking what Spanish wines... More
