There is a long line of chiringuitos (beach bars) along the main beach in Salobreña, and El Peñon is the first one nearest the town. There are a number of eating areas to choose from, on the beach, on the beach in a covered shelter, the restaurant itself, and a raised terrace above the water beside and slightly behind the... Lunched here outside on beach end of October nice views and still plenty of people in the sea! Two of us shared a salad followed by sardines (10 for a crazy €5) for one and a huge Squid for the other good but not the best I have eaten - perhaps a little too large. Coupled with a beer and... More

We enjoyed a late September lunch at El Peñon, seated straight on the beach, less than 10 meters from the water. When walking towards the restaurant, we immediately noticed the squids (pulpo) being grilled over olive wood, and shared one as a starter - WOW! The Paella Especial, with piles of fresh seafood and even half a lobster was phenomenal,... More

Terrible service crowned a disappointing meal and this wasn't even high season. We were overcharged by 30 euros, left without a drink for long intervals twice during our meal, and the monkfish was tough and the sauce was tasteless. We were by no means the only table suffering their poor service. Two tables next to us waited for up to... More

We have been eating here for many years and the quality of the food is consistently good. If you are at the teach, it's a perfect lunch/ dinner venue. The location Ian's views are fabulous.

fantastic menu; waiters, probably the best location; prices good, and in season free floor show/flamenco etc; allow 3 hours plus to fully enjoy; re visit? I already have a few times

The best and fresh barbequed squids enjoyed right on the beach. Very nice place for a family dinner.

Lovely spot but reserve your table and ask to sit at the back of the restaurant which overlooks the sea. Very beautiful spot. Tables pretty close together but by 2.00 pm the place was heaving in all four of the different seating areas. Fresh sardines and mussels, good salads. All in all a lovely meal and we sat there for...
