Yes, it's an "institution." You should go just so you understand what it is. Basically below average fast food in a very outdated restaurant. Placing your order is going to be the highlight, whether done outside or inside. Don't expect too much.

the food was good- not anything special. Among my family members we had a hamburger, 2 dogs and a BLT. We also had fries & onion rings. All good. We also got a frosted orange shake and apple pie to share. It's the atmosphere that makes this place. I have never seen so many employees behind a counter! It was... More

The Varsity is an institution (pun fully intended) in Atlanta. It's in all the guide books and TV programmes about food in this city, so it's one of those places that's just got to be done when you're here. It wasn't too crowded on the days we went, so finding seats wasn't hard. I'm in agreement with many reviewers who... More

Anytime I go through Atlanta, I have to eat here! Chili dogs, fried peach pies, onion rings! It is always good and the atmosphere is contagious. It's a legend!

Had seen on food network and heard of their great food. Not sure what was so exceptional. Had dogs with slaw and figured for price and rep they'd be large and beefy...looked like every day weiner and nothing special with just slaw..fries greasy and not real good. Wife had cheeseburger and onion rings and though pretty good have had better... More

What’s there to say about the Varsity, except that it’s an experience. Billed as the biggest drive-in in the world, they’ve created their own lingo of whatdayahave and naked dogs walking. And those dogs are at the heart of why you go to the Varsity. That, along with the greasy onion rings. Sure there are other items, including their fried... More

this was a perfect place for a quick lunch for our school group. The kids loved the atmosphere and it was within walking distance of our hotel.

the Varsity has been in Atlanta for decades and it is the "touristy" thing to do. I noticed the long lines, but I figured this is a good thing. I would recommend the Chill Dog and Vanilla Shake.

Having lived in the south all my life, I'd heard about, but not gotten to try the Varsity until today. I got a #2 and my husband got a #3. The burgers were ok- nothing special, but we both LOVED the fries! If you like soft fries, you'll love it here! Also, try a milkshake and a fried pie. If... More

From the fist walk up to the counter until you leave it's great. I always have a hod dog with slaw cheese and chili. Then when you get to the table you dust it with the chili spice give it a squirt of ketchup and mustard open wide and enjoy. Have a onion rings an a orange pop and you... More
