I love coming to The Varsity with my friends -- it always seems busy and bustling every time we are here. I like the fact they have a lot of ordering counters with the famous "What'll ya have?" question so it doesn't take very long. This last time I had the slaw dog combo. I loved the dogs but I... More

We went to The Varsity solely due to it's history. We had to say that we've at least eaten there once. It was game day at Georgia Tech, the atmosphere was electric. I was not super impressed by the hot dogs are the chilli but honestly that's not why we went.

Literally walked by this establishment on our way from the hotel to Georgia Tech, so I stopped in on my way back for a bite. Had been here years ago with friends but remembered the atmosphere more than the food. Sure it's an institution and a popular place for alumni and families, but the food is so-so. Had a grilled... I'm a Georgia Tech Alum.... that means I'm required by tradition to eat at least once there. This place has been around since the 1950's (if not earlier) and it shows its age. The exterior is pale yellow, the signs haven't been updated and there is still a drive in. The food...well, bluntly, it's greasy and bland. The Chili dogs... More

I have been going to the Varsity for over 44 years and I am never disappointed! But the secret is to go the cashier at the far right of the counter and request a "fresh hot chili dog". I always get mine with onions and I alternate between the French fries and the onion rings. i also love their Varsity... More

The food at the Varsity is acceptably mediocre. It is "food" not "dining". The atmosphere, ambiance and love that the locals obviously have for the place speaks volumes. It has been crowded beyond expectation every single time I have visited for a hotdog. The place reminds me greatly of a repurposed bus station..or train station. Its a great place to... More

The Varsity was fun to visit and the food was good. Great history there and the longest ordering counter I've ever seen!

the Varsity has pretty good food but the entire experience gets it a five rating from me. Simple hot dogs and hamburgers menu but the hundreds of people around you lets you know this place is popular to the locals and tourists as well. Always crowded when a game is in town, no matter the level.

When passing through Atlanta.......Ya got to stop by the Varsity in downtown Atlanta for the experience. This place is always jammed packed and long lines with lots of folks. Get y'all .... Varsity dogs, onion rings and/or fries. This is no place for counting calories. The food is not the finest culinary but the experience is a must go to... More

I've become a Vegan since I ate at the Varsity back 2009. I took my nephew there after he almost spent $50 for a hotel cheeseburger/fries and a brownie with drink. Needless to say, we got enough food for two adult men for under $20 and that included the tip to the car hop. I don't care for boiled hot... More
