Description: Celebrating over 18 year as one of Atlanta's favorite restaurants, South City Kitchen Midtown specializes in contemporary Southern cuisine with a sophisticated twist. Combining the energy of Atlanta with the warmth of a Southern home, the restaurant is nestled in an updated, historic bungalow on the city's famous Crescent Avenue. Dine on local Southern favorites such as shrimp and grits, buttermilk fried chicken, she-crab soup, fried green tomatoes and banana pudding while enjoying the view of our exhibition kitchen or the city skyline on one of the best patios in the city. This truly is dining the way the new South intended.

The food here is really good. But as they warn you -- it's Southern. Meaning it's fried. You can get appetizers, main courses, side dishes, and desserts, that are all fried! They're all good too. Try the fried green tomatoes, the southern fried chicken, the fried Brussels sprouts, and the fried apple turnover. The spice is friendly, and the people... More

My husband and I ate dinner here Saturday night! Loved our waitress...very kind! I had chicken and mashed potatoes with their honey based gravy! I love to cook and plan to re-create this honey flavored gravy! The chicken was perfect! He had a fantastic banana pudding, of course! We also had the greens...awesome! Easy to get to from MARTA which... More

My friends and I had just one night in Atlanta and wanted to eat somewhere cool with great service and sensational food. We were not disappointed! It was a Monday and we had to wait 45 minutes as a walk-in customer. A true sign of a popular restaurant! We passed the time having a beer at a nearby establishment and... More

visited here for the first time recently. A friendly, knowledgeable waiter not afraid to make specific recommendations but not pushy. Cool little place, food was outstanding. Not cheap but reasonably priced for what you get. I'll be back next time I'm in Atlanta.

So, my partner and I met two girls in a bar in Atlanta. We became friends, and we went off to South City Kitchen. They immediately changed our reservation from 2 to 4 and gave us a great table upstairs. We were served by a cute waitress from Chatanooga, who spoke with a Broad southern accent and made us feel... My girlfriend and I met in Kansas City, we now live in Denver, and we recently took a weekend trip to Atlanta. The point in saying that is not to brag about how awesome we are, even though we are, it is to reiterate that WE KNOW GOOD FOOD! We have eaten at some of the best food around and... More

This is a popular midtown restaurant for good reason. The food is superb and the service impeccable. Best fried green tomatoes ever. Excellent versions of classic southern food like buttermilk fried chicken, smoked pork chops and of course sides of grits and mashed potatoes prepared to perfection. I never thought about wine pairings for this type of cuisine before, but... More

I am British so not used to USA southern cuisine and was dying to try it. I went there for lunch with 2 colleagues. We got served by the amazing Ian who's service, recommendations and manners were impeccable. To start with we had the fried green tomatoes and she crab soup - both great. For our mains we had the... Had a great lunch and dinner, tasty cornbread and biscuits arrived quickly, best shrimp and grits I ever had, one caveat, when restaurant is full, the db level is very high! Only reason I scored them low is on atmosphere , it's a beautiful place, was the noise issue

This was our first visit to Atlanta and we wanted to try traditional Southern cooking. We went to South City Kitchen because of its high TripAdvisor rating, and were happy we did. We went for lunch at about 2 PM on a Sunday, just as the brunch crowd was thinning. We got in right away, although had we been there... More
