My friends and I went there after a concert, the BBQ Pork Sandwich was easily one of the best I've had anywhere. BBQ was not the type that's overwhelmingly sweat or spicy, it was a perfect mixture of both. Meat fell right off the bone. Sweet potato pie is also great from here as well as the rum baked beans... Whenever we're in Atlanta, we try to get to Fat Matt's Rib Shack for ribs, beer and sweet potato pie! Matt's has scant parking so share a ride and save a lot of time trying to park! Order your ribs and/or chicken, with sides of slaw, beans, potato salad, collard greens etc, beer and sweet potato pie at the counter... More

I came early because I skipped lunch. Line was out the door at 5 & got longer while I was there. Had ribs & beans both very good sauce went well with it. A band was setting up but I didn't hear. From photos on the wall it looks like a lot of blues played here.

There are a lot ofa came highly regarded. I had a half a rack of ribs that were very tender and moist. The sauce they provide is spicier than a lot of places and very tasty. My wife had a quarter of a chicken and a chopped pork sandwich. My wife liked both. However she did feel the baked beans... More

I had heard that this was the place to go in Atlanta. I did not anticipate how small it was but it actually made it that much more charming and authentic. Definitely get the Mac!

While the place is small the ribs, chicken and pork were outrageous. I loved the potato salad. Just wish there was some corn bread. There was live music and we are everything. It's nothing fancy but the food is worth the trip!!

After an absence of some years, we revisited Fat Matt's and found the food was not what it used to be. Where is the smoky flavor?? Sides were also not up to par.

This is my go to bbq place. It never seems to disappoint and the live music is a plus. The line can be pretty long on the weekends but it's worth the wait.

I don't know what the lady/man who wrote that bad review's problem was, but those were the best ribs I have ever eaten in my life! The pulled pork sandwich I didn't really care for, mainly because it very thinly shredded and not chopped chunks, no burnt crust to munch on, just mushy meat, but those ribs....wow! My mom and...
