Excellent service and a taste of New Orleans

Its easy to understand why this restaurant has thrived for more than 40 years while many others in the area have come and gone--Quality, flavorful dishes and well balanced service. Its difficult to say whether the food (the Cajun-spiciness of Bourbon Street Scallops on fettuccine with a cream... read more

Its difficult to say whether the food (the Cajun-spiciness of Bourbon Street Scallops on fettuccine with a cream sauce) or the service (not lingering or over interruptive, just there when... More

One thing about a restaurant that has been around since 1972 - you can assume they have signature dishes that have survived the test of time! McKinnon's unassuming location belies what you are in store for - good food prepared with great care and expertise. The gumbo, Etouffe with crawfish, and bread pudding were outstanding. The have a fair selection... More

Always predictably good food, and always a bit of a throwback in terms of atmosphere and clientele. My most recent visit was on a busy Saturday night, but even so the time it took to get anyone's attention and even get a drink order taken was inexcusable. Ultimately, the owner ended up waiting tables. I would imagine that they must... More

3 of us tried McKinnon's while visiting Atlanta recently. On the surface, it has an older dining club appearance but once you spend some time here, you will quickly realize what a gem it is. Nice soft background music, very knowledgable wait staff, and top-notch food. The owner pays close attention to the service his team provides and takes time... More

I have been here several times. Each time the owners, bar tenders and waiters recognize me or my companions. The bar tender knew what we wanted to drink before we even ordered. That makes one feel special for sure. We also go about forty-five minutes before our reservation so that we can have a drink in the bar and enjoy... More

Although this classifies as southern food since New Orleans is in the south, it is definitely not the usual fare for Atlanta. The meal was quite good, I enjoyed the soft shell crab. The egg plant casserole could have been a little spicier. For appetizer, I found oysters Elizabeth to be tasty. The wine list is very reasonable in price.... More

I love this place! Old-school Buckhead. No glitzy glam, no muss and fuss, just delicious food and fine cocktails! Ariz runs a tight ship here and it's very welcoming, eclectic and fun!

Restaurant was quite cozy, and the host and servers were wonderful. With that beginning, we were expecting to have some really good food. I ordered the tuna entree and my husband ordered the grouper entree. I was very disappointed in the tuna as it was not fresh, and though the grouper was satisfactory, it was cold. This will be our... Classic, throwback and old school quickly come to mind. But delicious and impeccable service are also appropriate. When you first walk in, it might seem as if you’ve entered a time warp. But McKinnon’s has found a formula that works and they’ve stuck with it. The menu is stuffed with seafood, some classics and some that speak to the Cajun... More

The ambiance and the attentiveness of the wait staff makes McKinnons. It is like going out to dinner in the age of Mad Men or Leave it to Beaver. It is quite charming in a genteel sort of way. The food was good and the portions and pricing reasonable. It did not have the bite that I normally expect in... More
