This is a complicated restaurant-- I don't know how to review it.

Friends took me to this restaurant for my birthday. It was a confusing experience. A large restaurant with a back room for shows, there was a separate entrance where we were told to enter, since we had bought tickets for the burlesque show, but someone in the restaurant insistently waved us to... read more

I was visiting family for a few days in Atlanta. My sister had raved about this place after she was taken here for her birthday. She had had an amazing time, even dancing on the table, and her lamb dinner was amazing. So this was the place she was taking me to dinner. They open at 5pm and we arrived... More

Daughter just moved in to some apts nearby & this was within walking distance. We were skeptical at first because hardly anyone was in the restaurant...which is usually not a good sign! We got a table in the "sunroom-type" room which had lots of propane patio flame heaters which kept it toasty warm inside. We all started with drinks (the... More

This is my 2ND time here. With friends for a birthday party. Very pricey, but authentic. I did have leftovers and will definitely enjoy them later.

One question is foremost on my mind when thinking about Taverna, especially given it's location. That is, is this a restaurant or a strip club? Let's compare. Both have music and DJ's screaming so loudly over the PA that you can't hear yourself think, let alone hold a conversation with your party. Both have scantily clad women dancing on tables.... More

I have driven past the Taverna Plaka a thousand times over the last decade, and finally pulled in to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised! I asked to sit outside as it was early evening and the weather was wonderful. The staff was excellent. They answered questions truthfully and helped me order a great meal. The octopus appetizer... My husband and I tried Atlanta's only upscale (read: attempt at decor and "impromptu" Opa! entertainment) Greek restaurant years ago when it opened. I had lived in Greece and I love Greek food. Although the fare was pretty good, we thought the prices steep for what essentially is ethnic (and, in Greece, inexpensive) cooking. Despite its being just around the... More

If you are looking for a quiet intimate dinner, this is definitely not the place. It's a great, fun, loud atmosphere with good food. Didn't take note of any couples as every table had a celebration of some sort going on. We enjoyed the family style dish which allowed us to sample many different items on the menu. The bellydancers... More

We had a wonderful meal with family at Taverna Plaka, and we were very impressed with the food and the service. We ordered Mussels, Beef Souvlaki, YiaYia’s Chicken, and the Youvetsi (Greek Lamb Shank). The food was absolutely delicious, and the portions were very generous. For dessert we had Baklava and also a delectable cake. The dinner was wonderful, but... More
