Great Experience

I just recently visited this restaurant for a family members bday dinner, it was really good! Belly dancing and stuff. What was really cool is how they threw napkins around the place.Anyway the food was good, I had the chicken Kabob with pita bread and a small Greek salad which was amazing! I would... read more

We had a wonderful meal with family at Taverna Plaka, and we were very impressed with the food and the service. We ordered Mussels, Beef Souvlaki, YiaYia’s Chicken, and the Youvetsi (Greek Lamb Shank). The food was absolutely delicious, and the portions were very generous. For dessert we had Baklava and also a delectable cake. The dinner was wonderful, but... More

I'm Greek-American and particularly like my own Greek Food, which is based on old family recipes. Taverna Plaka's food used to be pretty good. But it's not anymore. They no longer have Papoutsakia on the menu that includes meat. They also do not have Greek meatballs (Keftedes) on the menu any longer. The food that we did have was not... More

We tried Taverna Plaka for the first time last weekend, and it proved to be a very enjoyable meal. The saganaki starter was delicious, and my pastitsio was very good, although it could have been a little hotter, temperature wise. My boyfriend got the roasted lamb and literally picked the bones clean. For desert I had kataifi and he had... More

Had heard a lot about this restaurant and wanted to try it out. Came here for dinner last night. The Greek decor of the outside seating area was delightful. The belly dancer performs at every table and she was good. Every once in a while, they throw paper napkins and yell Opa! It was strange that we were not given... More

This was my first visit to the restaurant, it was highly recommended. However I did not get the full details of what to expect. I was celebrating my 65th Birthday!! An intimate group of family and friends joined the festivities. I HAVE NOT HAD THAT MUCH FUN in years!! I danced on top of a table in high heels. I... More

We were there Friday early for a quiet dinner. Hummus and other food was excellent as well as the service. Their sangria was excellent as well. A little pricey, but very good. We came back about 9:30 with plans for the Cuban Salsa Dancing in the back room and waited at the bar until it was time. Lots of fun... More

When we arrived there was only one other couple in the place. We were a little apprehensive at first but we forged ahead. We had lots of dishes to chose from. I chose the YiaYia's Chicken - Stuffed Chicken Breast and my wife had the Moussaka. Both were very good. As we were eating someone turned the background music up.... More

We are generally reluctant to go to a touristy restaurant but this was a pleasant exception. We just got in from the US in the evening and needed some food at a place close by our hotel. We choose it because it had a better crowd than other places around them. Don't get turned away by a fairly aggressive 'sales... More
