Stick to the sushi

Recently visited again. This time we ventured from the sushi menu. We ordered some "appetizers," which actually came after our sushi meal...so who knows. The sushi was still top notch, but the appetizers where fried, glutenous messes of shrimp, crab like stuff and mayonnaise. Stick with the... read more

We went to Taka for a late lunch. Our bad was that we arrived 15 minutes before what was the end of their lunch service. The waitress that seated us was very pleasant, but within a couple of minutes of being seated, another waitress came to the table and told us we had to order right then, because they were... More

The sushi was still top notch, but the appetizers where fried, glutenous messes of shrimp, crab like stuff and mayonnaise. Stick with the sushi. And it is not cheap.

Our hotel concierge recommended this place for sushi. While we weren't expecting the sushi to be what we are used to on the West Coast, we DID expect a little more flavor. We had four different sushi rolls, which we shared. They were all bland. I ordered a huge scoop of wasabi in order to add some spice to the... More

The sushi was nothing special but was enjoyable. The ramen noodle soup was extra good and the side condiments added the extra spice and flavor to the soup.

Have lived in Atlanta about 12 years. Usually go to a local neighborhood restaurant, but sometimes venture to Buckhead to try some of the well known restaurants. I am biased, having grown up on the West Coast where there is very high quality sushi to be found. This was not the best sushi I ever had, but it was very... More

My adult son's birthday is New Year's Eve. It's become our tradition that we meet for lunch & have sushi to celebrate. Because of the Buckhead location, the sushi is pricey; but as you look around in the restaurant, you see more Japanese diners than not. They know where to go for great Japanese. The rolls were amazing: we tried... More

I am an unabashed Taka fan. My wife and I eat here very often. I have eaten in every noteworthy Sushi restaurant in Atlanta, NYC, Chicago, Boston, LA, Las Vegas, San Francisco, and many cities around the world including many in Japan. Taka is a world class establishment. The service, the surroundings and the overall atmosphere make every visit a... More

We came for the ramen. Compared to a genuine ramen house, Taka was disappointing. The tonkotsu broth didn't have the richness or depth that ramen houses all seem to achieve, though the shoyu ramen was a bit better. Sushi might be great, but we didn't get any. The fried okra appetizer was nice. It was lightly tempura battered and fried... More

If you're looking for Sushi in Atlanta, this is the place. In the Buckhead area, easy to find (although the parking is a bit confusing) and set apart from the busiest streets, Taka was a treat. The fish is fresh and priced about what you expect for sushi so far removed from the coastline. We used Open Table and were... More

Taka Sushi is the best sushi in Atlanta. The owner Taka-san is a skilled master at his craft. The quality of fish and all of this food is the best. The Staff is wonderful and service oriented. If you are adventuresome, sit back and order omakase (chef's choice) and enjoy the skills of Taka-san. We've been going for years and... More
