We ate here last nite and had the most amazing meal. Booked ages ago having researched on TripAdvisor and the result was a superbly balanced meal freshly cooked and with the best local produce. The intimate restaurant atmosphere is just right, the service great fun and a very wide and different wine list. It's so good to go to a... More

Richard P's observation is WRONG. osteria pane e salute (the best restaurant in Woodstock!) is STILL OPEN--though, for the moment, they're serving on Friday and Saturday nights only. Owners Caleb Barber and Deirdre Heekin also have a farm and vineyard and are harvesting grapes and making wine. As a result, they're closing the osteria on Thursday and Sunday evenings (September-October)... More

Visited Woodstock, VT yesterday with friends and walked past Pane e Salute, which I had recently looked up on TA as a possible dinner location. Menu sounded very good and reviews were excellent. When I walked past the front door, there was a hand written sign on the window saying "CLOSED". This may have just recently happened, but wanted you... More

WE ARE NOT CLOSED! This reviewer must have gone to the space on the street level of our building which is empty and does not belong to us. Our restaurant is on the second floor off of a second floor porch at 61 Central in Woodstock. And we are VERY MUCH OPEN. If you'd like to visit us please call... More

The Italian-inspired menu at Osteria Pane e Salute celebrates Vermonts seasonal and local ingredients that make it to the wooden farm tables in its cosy dining space. Green-painted walls, vases of blooms and foliage, candle light and a very unique wine selection. Husband and wife team Caleb Barber and Deirdre Heekin regularly travel to Italy for regional food and wine... More

Ok, I did not want to write a review because I like to keep little treasures to myself, but after several dinners here this summer, I have to say that this is probably the best restaurant in Woodstock. If you enjoy thin-crust pizza, intimate settings, great wine selection, yummy desserts, creative specials, and a delicious pre-fix choice every visit (not... More

We were introduced to Pane e Salute by two in-the-know friends and have to say that all of our high expectations were exceeded. The owners, husband and wife team Caleb and Deirdre, are super friendly and welcoming, extremely knowledgeable about their food and wine, and work wonders in the kitchen. Each of our courses – from the chicken liver pate,... More

We ate here five or so years ago, and planned our trip back to Woodstock so that we could dine here again. We were not disappointed. First, the atmosphere: charming, intimate, beautifully lit and decorated. We were greeted by name by Deirdre, one of the owners, and directed to our table. The food: in a word, delicious. We both did... More

Sundays can be tricky in small towns...at nice restaurants..but the owners were ready/willing/able. Usually reservations have to be made 1-2 weeks out...we were lucky! Almost the perfect small, quality restaurant...we'd drive a long way to dine with them again...it's clear they love what they are doing...the range of pizzas is perfect...the risotto and fish were tasty...the super thin crust on... A very earnest attempt at doing something great but the food and atmosphere are just average. I bit of a disappointment.

Despite the rave reviews, the food was nothing special. We wanted to love it as it is a cute place and the owner seemed very welcoming. She made excellent wine pairing suggestions. Pizza was probably the best thing we had. Pasta was second. Beef stew was dry. Salad special was very basic. Literally escarole and vinaigrette. Dessert was the least... More
