A very earnest attempt at doing something great but the food and atmosphere are just average. I bit of a disappointment.
Despite the rave reviews, the food was nothing special. We wanted to love it as it is a cute place and the owner seemed very welcoming. She made excellent wine pairing suggestions. Pizza was probably the best thing we had. Pasta was second. Beef stew was dry. Salad special was very basic. Literally escarole and vinaigrette. Dessert was the least... More
We had the fixed price dinner and each course was more exceptional than the next: salad, orange and olive pizza and trout. Yum. These people know what they're doing.
Simple, tasty, fairly priced. It was a really a special treat. But now this month after a 200 dollar ticket for a left hand turn from the local small town sherrifs trying to make their end of month quota - we will never step foot in Wodstock, Vermont again.
I've dined at fine places in Rome, Venice, Milan, Florence, Pisa and Bologna -- and I'm hard to please. But in Woodstock, Vermont, of all places, I found the finest Italian restaurant I've ever dined in. The proprietors raise much of their own produce; they create their own liqeurs; the wait table, deliver dishes, do contortions to please their guests... More
The food is always excellent here. There is an excellent Italian wine list. Deirdre makes her guests always feel welcome. Caleb dishes are innovative and tasty in keeping with the Italian cuisine. They use vegetables from their farm. We have eaten here many times and have never been disappointed. This is a popular place. So, be sure to reserve in... More
Everything was wonderful from the service, menu - including the many specials representing what was available from the owners farm, the wine and the fabulous food. Can't speak highly enough of the whole experience. One of the highlights of our trip to New England.
We had heard soooo much about this place in beautiful Woodstock, VT, but we were let down. The ambiance had a great vibe, but the food was simply okay. With all the great places to go, this one is not worth the wait.
The Gold Standard! By far, the best meal and most delightful dining experience of our New England trip! Do not miss this restaurant if you are lucky enough to get a reservation. Deirdre and Caleb share their passion to make your dinner an unforgettable experience. The spectacular food, gorgeous surroundings, and perfect ambience combine to make Osteria Pane e Salute... More
Reserve in advance and spend the evening. Owners Deirdre and Caleb are extremely attentive and eager to please. Lighting, noise level, pacing and ambiance are all as one would hope for. The prix fixe allows you to sample a number of delectable courses, which you really should try to do. Portion size and pacing are spot on; you will not... More
