I LOVE going to the snack bar in the warmer months! Back a bag, wear a bathing suit, grab some yummy fried clams and sweet potato fries and head down to the Ottaquechee River for a swim!

Good fried clams are impossible to find on the west coast so I was excited to hear that this place has incredible whole bellied fried clams while visiting. Everyone was correct! Crispy on the outside and juicy bellies. I could have eaten these all day. Be sure to order their tasty french fries with you lunch, you'll be glad you... More

We like to go to the White Cottage. The food is simple, as is the atmosphere. You order at the window, they call your name when it's ready, and sit where ever you want. The offerings are basic and everything is really good. They make really good fried fish; lobster rolls, fried clams, and the fish and chips are all... More

I never write reviews, but I am a fried clam aficionado and I have traveled from Rhode Island to Ipswich to Main in pursuit. We never expected to find any in Vermont, but stopped and turned around when we passed the sign. Didn't expect much, and it took a while for them to be cooked. But when we tasted them,... More

This is a very old fashioned outdoor (large) food stand. It is located on the banks of the river where the owners have thoughtfully provided tented, swinging benches and tables overlooking the river. The food is basic. My fried scallops were plentiful, but nothing special. My husband really enjoyed his hot dog and fries. The location alone makes it worth... More

Good fried scallops, but fried fish had no taste. Staff was great, place was clean except for the annoying flies inside. I had to guard my food from the landing pests. The cost was rather expensive at $34.00 for two plates of fried seafood with fries and slaw and frappes. They take cash only. The owner has an atm installed... More

Parents can relax in swing chairs or at picnic tables while the kids explore the Ottauquechee river, which at this bend is shallow, meandering, and great for wading in. The ice cream is from Gifford's, which I find is tons better than other New England area suppliers like Richardson's Dairy.

A Woodstock Classic, lot's of fond memories here. The location is Great with views of the river perfect for enjoying a nice summer day alone, with friends, or the family. Ice cream is great, the burgers are simple but good. Glad they are reopened after the Flood. Will be back on my next Visit to Vermont!

We heard about the restaurant from friends from NYC who had been there. They had good things to say so we gave it a shot. We were very pleased with our burgers and when back in the area we will drop by again

It's not fancy but offers burgers and salads and some fish dishes and sandwiches. Outside there are many tables available with a nice view. You can go below the parking area and eat at tables by the stream. While there we saw some happy kids wading in a very calm pool in the stream; a great place for families. Located... More
