my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our food at this bistro. The waitress we had too was absolutely amazing. She described the menu in wonderful detail and our mouths were watering before we even saw the food.

What an unexpected surprise! We found Melaza in the small town of Woodstock, Vermont. It's quite a trendy place, with many upscale dining opportunities. Some way overpriced, and others good but not impressive. Filling in this gap is Melaza. Reasonably priced, the food is a bit out of the ordinary and it adds to the flair. The service was excellent... Sat outside on Sunday, Sept 28th with my wife and truly enjoyed our meal. We started with the empanadas, plantain cups with pork and garlic shrimp. All hit the spot perfectly. The black bean soup was tasty as well. We split the braised pork shank with a guava sauce, which was recommended from Amy our great server. It was perfect.... More

We have been coming up to the Quechee/Woodstock area for years and were so pleased to see something so different here. My sister visited first & still talks about the skirt steak she ordered and the pork shank her husband enjoyed. I went with a friend in May and also was delighted. Our server was VERY thorough with her descriptions... More

The friendly bartender was very knowledgable and enthusiastic about his beers and wines. We ate a fantastic pork shank, very tender and tasty. Good atmosphere and no tv-screens :-).

My wife and I visited in early September. Difficult to quantify why but we came away mildly disappointed. The menu was Caribbean and every dish seemed to mix sweet and savoury tastes. I appreciate that some Caribbean cuisine is like this but not all. It therefore presented my wife, who like her sweet and likes her savoury but not on... More

While we knew about the owner/chef from a previous country club chef position this is the first time we stopped by this Woodstock VT restaurant impromptu without a reservation. We found a friendly atmosphere and a competent staff. The decor is matching its Caribbean flair and the variety of the menu is supplemented by innovative specials. While the majority of... More

The restaurant has an interesting Latin menu. Delicious black bean soup, empanadas and coconut shrimp. The scallops over saffron risotto was excellent. The service was really spotty with an undertrained server.

My husband and I always make this a stop on our trips to Woodstock. The salmon is wonderful and the carribbean flank steak is too. The drinks are delicious too.

Melaza Bistro is in a great location of Woodstock. Great outdoor seating and plenty of seating inside. We were seated indoors and upstairs. We had some time to review the menu before our waitress came over to our table and took our drink order. After our pricey bottle of wine came out, she asked to take our order. About ten... More

Hello, Thank you for letting me know about your experience. While I'm glad you enjoyed our food, I'm sorry you felt about our service. On that evening I noticed that particular server walking to the kitchen confused and disoriented, I got really concerned, I sat her down in my office to see if she needs medical attention, right at that...
