Number one place to eat

I had the pork shank that was cooked perfectly. My wife had cod with a curry sauce. Both were wonderful. The wine is excellent and everything was reasonably priced. Made a reservation in advance for 7:30. Inn keepers vouched for the place. But, when we arrived, we stood at the hostess station for several minutes before even being acknowledged. Finally, several employees passed by and promised to "be with you in a second." Never happened. Plenty of open tables. Finally, what I assume was a hostess confirmed we were... More

My daughter and I ate here in June, I had the salmon special and Tegan had the scallops, both cooked to perfection with a nice presentation. The service was exceptional, waiter very attentive. Glad we chose this restaurant!

Melaka is such a gem of a restaurant to have in a small town in VT. Authentic Puerto Rican and Caribbean cuisine which is comforting yet light at the same time. Great fish, yucca fries, fried plantains! This restaurant will make you think you're dining in Puerto Rico for the night!

Melaza Bistro comes by the good reviews honestly. The food is creative, beautifully presented, delicious, and reasonably priced. The service when our inter-generational family group of 9 visited was impeccable. We're looking for a chance to go back!!

This place has delicious food! We started with the yucca fries and coconut shrimp. Both were wonderful! I'd never had yucca fries before, so I didn't quite know what to expect. Now I hope I can find them again some day!! Coconut shrimp were large and really yummy. I had the fresh cod special that was truly fresh and absolutely... More

We just love this place. A little touch of the Caribbean in Vermont. Amazing cocktails and tapas as well as generous main dishes that are fantastic! The chicken Sofrito is amazing and the scallops are my favorite. I love going here all year long with a small but nice patio in the summer and a cozy escape to the tropics... More

The food at Melaza reminded me of our trip to Puerto Rico. The food "es muy Rico"!!!! We will definitely stop there again when in Woodstock.

This is a small restaurant with a decidedly Caribbean/Spanish feel in its decor and food. The spicing sauces include flavours like guava and chipotle. The St Louis style ribs were delicious with their guava BBQ glaze. Save room for dessert. The flan and key lime pie were made in house as are the bread.

I came here with my husband and two grown sons. One is a vegetarian. There was one vegetarian option -- a timbale -- on the large plates menu, but the waitress couldn't really describe it. He ordered it -- and I'm not sure that I could describe it either, even after trying it. It wasn't a particularly good choice for... More
