My husband and I had dinner here Saturday night. It was a little busy and we didn't have a reservation but we were seated in a reasonable time. I had the swordfish which was to die for and my husband had the chicken and rice. The food was amazing. Our waitress was such a delight. Even though the dining room... More

After living in Vermont for over a year I was craving of my mother's cooking, going to this restaurant made feel at home again. I come from a family of very good cooks, so I know good food when a taste it and this place got it. I am raised in the island of Puerto Rico so I know my... More

Maybe it was just me or the time I visited but I found the restaurant's food and cocktails average. Service was good, outside patio is nice. Hopefully my second trip will be better

I would have liked to give this place five stars because the food was delicious. The reason I am only giving four is because the restaurant smelled of bleach. I am guessing that perhaps since I went pretty close to dinner opening, they had just cleaned. Once the food arrived, it was okay, and perhaps i have a really sensitive... More

Melaza Bristro was for us an oasis ( after eating countless lobster rolls in Boston and Maine) during our two weeks trip in New England. My husband and I grew up in Puerto Rico and are used to puertorrican food so at first I was not that thrilled to try Melaza because I assummed that it would not meet our... More

This is great place to have a memorable meal. Melaza offers a convenient location, great service, a nice drink selection, and terrific food. There is a good combination of well prepared "American food" and several excellent island offerings. Yucca fries, plantains, black bean soup were tremendous, as was the filet medallions--all served quickly and with a warm smile. Woodstock is... More

I wouldn't order again. it was edible and not that... More

Hello Caroline, I thank you for your comment, Mofongos are best made with Green Plantains, unfortunately I having a hard time getting them green enough here in Woodstock, VT, that is why i do not have them in the menu, its hard for me to say no to my customers, especially when the server explain to me that is what... After reading many of the reviews about this place, my husband and I decided to try it on our recent visit to Woodstock. Over all, the food was good but......... We started with the coconut shrimp appetizer which we shared. The 4 shrimp were large but where was the coconut? They were really just plain fried shrimp. The dipping sauce... More

Hands down, this is the best restaurant we found in Woodstock, Vermont. The food has Puerto Rican touches, not something one expects to find in Vermont. Everything we had was wonderful, especially the plantain cups filled with pulled chicken ... off the chart. Main courses were spectacular. If you like seafood, try the pan seared scallops. They were artfully presented... More

Our dinner was spectacular. Compliments go out to our server Robin for suggesting the specials, they were OFF the hook. We were told the chef is David Diaz, and I can vouch that his dishes are simply phenomenal. So while visiting this quaint New England town take a moment to stop in and surprise your palet' with some Caribbean eclectic... More
