I didn’t know quite what to expect when we visited Melaza Bistro in Woodstock VT. I need not have worried however as it turned out to be a great meal. The Inside is a little on the chintzy with the walls painted with palm trees etc. The service and food however more than makeup for the decor. As a main... More

We live in town so Melaza is one of our regular restaurant stops. We had company from Boston and this was there first visit. Our friends know good food & raved about their meals, and the service. All 4 of us had something different and everything was delicious. I had a signature dish; a generous Pork Shank which was tasty,... More

We had been a few years ago to Melaza and am not sure why we waited so long to return. The Carribean theme is intriguing for its Woodstock setting, but what counts most about a restaurant is its FOOD. As a group of four we sampled several items and all were delicious. This chef makes everything and this comes out... More

Ventured to this restaurant for our last night in Woodstock based on the positive tripadvisor reviews. We were not disappointed. We tried the scottish salmon and the paella specials which were delightful. Even their garlic and cilantro dipping oil for the bread was tasty. We shared the tres leches cake for dessert which was decadent and the perfect ending to... More

An easy walk from the Woodstock Inn and a taste of the Caribbean in a town where you'd least expect it. Try the Chicken or Beef Empanadas and the Mariquitas Chips (crispy green plaintain & mashed avocado) for appetizers. Try the Coffee & Chili dusted Filet mignon or Pan Seared Sea Scallops for entrees. I found the Coconut Panko Crusted... More

It is hard to find a restaurant that repeatedly meets the need, whether a table for two or for a gang, whether vegan or carnivore, Melaza puts out interesting food in a pleasant environment. I have not had a bad meal, a bad server or a bad time and I have been there many times.

Although there was a minor mix-up over our booking, the staff quickly found us a table and we enjoyed a first-class meal. Delicious flavours, particularly in the slow-roasted pork special and pleasant, unfussy service made for a memorable evening. Give it a try - you won't be disappointed.

My husband and I were in Woodstock during Columbus Day weekend and couldn't get into any other restaurant…but that turned out to be a good thing! The food was wonderful and the prices were affordable as well. I ordered the salmon and it was probably the best salmon I've ever had. The lava cake desert was amazing too…as were my... More

Want something different and really good. Try this place! Once seated you will think you were having dinner in the Islands. Food was a nice change from the Vermont sean of pumpkin soup and veal chop served everywhere else. Pork Shank and Scallops were delicious. Service was great. Would definitely go again. Make reservations as this place is popular among... More

The food here is of good quality. Although its Caribbean food it was not really that spicy. Good beer but pricey wine (for us Brits). We went there twice which is a good recommendation from us. Well priced for Woodstock. Need to book to be certain of a table.
