Gastro-pub, and just what you want!

A lovely evening was spent cozzied up to the bar at the Red Rooster enjoying some adult beverages, joking with the bartenders, and feasting on some delicious burgers. A great hum of apres skiers (or more likely apres spa-ers) make it a lively spot, and a fun atmosphere. The menu ranges from chicken... read more

Red Rooster restaurant is fine dinning at the Woodstock Inn. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner with some fine wine. The menu is very diverse and the food is delicious. I like steak and my wife usually orders fish. Both entrees were very good with some nice side dishes. If in Woodstock, drop by the Red Rooster and treat yourself to... More

In this causal impersonal dining area situated in one of the most classical hotels in Vermont, the selection of menu items was underwhelming. My Halibut was delicious but my wife's lamb was somewhat overdone and slightly gamy. The service was attentive. The atmosphere of the restaurant was incongruous to the classical elegance of this fine hotel.

Food is good but service is poor. I know this is rural Vermont, however, a restaurant requires decent service, not slow disinterest. This is the 4th time in as many years that I have come for lunch on a Sunday. The last time i had to wait an hour before food arrived and i complained and i was comped. This... More

Thank you for returning over the years to dine at The Red Rooster, and for sharing your valuable feedback. I feel very badly that we have failed to live up to your expectations. I cannot fairly address your visit over a year ago, but would like to speak to your experience last Sunday. Being busy or under-staffed definitely does not... More

Wonderful selection of food....on the gourmet side. Most entrees are over $30 however the preparation, presentation and quality is excellent. Try the lamb....delicious!

Thank you for sharing your impressions of your dinner in The Red Rooster during your recent stay at The Woodstock Inn! The New England farm-raised lamb you mention is always a favorite, and includes a rack as well as an extra little morsel, which varies from night to night according to the chef’s preference. We hope you’ll return again to... More

We booked in for Christmas day lunch. Limited menu, small portion sizes and had to request bread. Maybe I'm being harsh. It was nice. The food was good, just not what we were expecting from such a lovely resort.

We took our family to dinner at the Red Rooster on Christmas day. From the time we were seated we joked that perhaps we were invisible because after taking our drink order, no one returned to the table for an extended period of time. We were watching other tables, and with rare exception, we were getting the same treatment as... More
