Slow? Glacial. We had no choice - nothing else in town was open. We were given menus that seemed like lunch, very limited with only a couple sandwiches and salads. As we left after a worse than mediocre hamburger and monte cristo, we saw for the first time a blackboard hidden behind another table with several dinner specials... Another nice... More

Food was mediocre, service was slow, pretentious atmosphere. Unattentive service. Bathroom was not clean. When we arrived at 5:15pm, the staff stated we had to wait outside for 15 minutes because they were not ready yet for guests. The French onion soup was good, but way over priced for $12.00. Wine was decent. Would not recommend or go back.

We went for lunch on a Wednesday with only 1 other table of four. Entrees were not served at the same time so two of us waited and received our meals 15 minutes later. The onion soup and bread basket were the only items worth eating. The two small links of duck sausage were $18.00 and really not that great.... More

We went for lunch and got there with one other table occupied. We walked in a were handed menus without the uninterested waitress saying anything. We took them and found ourselves a table. We were given quite some time to order. They were out of one item that we ordered we were informed 10 minutes later. It took more than... More

What a nice surprise. The food was delicious. Had a nice glass of wine. The owner serves you. It is not an "American" style meaning you don't have a waiter waiting on you every second; no rushing. It was so relaxing to just be able to sit and talk. The menu is not very big, but the specials added to... More

What an unexpected gem! Owned and operated by a French family with the feel (and prices!) of a Paris Bistro. Food is made to order so bring your patience and a good appetite.

For many years, we had been wanting to try this restaurant on our way through Independence but the timing was never right. It has a great reputation with Eastern Sierra locals. It is an unlikely gourmet restaurant in a little mountain town. The food lived up to our expectations. I had French onion soup and Salad Nicoise and my husband... More

We ate here 3 times, while spending time off the trail. The Still Life was recommended by the owner of the motel we were staying at-who did add, you may have to wait, even if you are the only ones there. Meals all three times were excellent. Beef bourgeon was superb. There is a good and varied selection of foods.... More

On Wednesday when Jenny's Cafe is closed dinner options are a Subway at a gas station, or this place. So our expectations were not high. We found it a wonderful don't-miss surprise. Very French with bilingual signs in the window, Tintin and Asterix comic books inside (some in English, thank goodness), oil paintings and photos of jazz greats on the... More

We ate dinner here this week during a trip to the area and I've been thinking ever since about how to review this place. We saw the other reviews before we arrived so I was prepared for some potential issues, but considering the late hour and the limited options, this was where we ended up. Admittedly, it felt a little... More
