When someone visits from out of town, there are a couple standby restaurants that we go to, certainly some shops that we try and bring business too, but nobody, and I mean nobody, gets to come here without visiting Bev's at least once. With at least a half-dozen fresh-that-day-only flavors, a wall full of standby choices, and a cute area... More

We're at the point in our road trip when you just need a decent ice cream. After some local digging we find out we should head to Carytown and look out for Bev's. We did, and it was good. Very good. I went for 'Dirty Chocolate' with M&Ms and Oreo's. It was unbelievable. I've been around a bit, I've been... More

One of my favorite ice cream shops so far. While in Richmond I was a little disappointed with the food in Cary st but was extremely happy to find this great place. I had the butter pecan and peach and cream both extremely creamy and flavorful.

Flavor wise they carry the usual and some. I had the Butter Pecan and it was good. However nothing special comes to mind to write from that one experience. This is a small ice cream parlor and popular with visitors. What I noticed about my Butter Pecan was the extra creamy taste. While I stood outside and enjoyed my ice... More

The entire decor of Bev's is 1970s! From the painted stripes on the wall to the lackluster tables and too-high stools, you'll expect Mary and Rhoda to walk in anytime. Additionally, we were there on a Saturday night and the staff seemed so harried-- it was steadily busy, but it didn't justify the frustration…

If you are looking for unique flavors in ice cream than this is probably the place for you. I have to give them hats off for the uniqueness of the shop, the different distinctive flavors they create, and of course being in Carytown. I tried the rum raisin which had some wonderful flavors to it and my partner had the... More

For some reason I had never heard of Bev's before this summer, but I was missing out! I have been twice and had delicious flavors both times (Mocha Almond and Espresso Oreo). The staff is very nice and the prices are reasonable. Bev's is a great alternative to the frozen yogurt craze.

My husband and I were walking around Carytown for the first time on Saturday afternoon. We really wanted ice cream, but all we found at first was a frozen yogurt chain. But then we started seeing people walked toward us with ice cream. We asked someone and found out about Bev's and were glad we waited! I am very particular... More

Not only was the service poor--no hello, no 'thank you' but our chocolate ice cream had ice chunks--not supposed to!! I used to make ice cream for a PT job I had years ago in undergrad...so we won't be back.

Located in the shopping area known as Carytown this little ice cream shop is big on flavor. I mean lots of flavors with unusual combinations. Wish we lived close by to try them all! Their sign on the street intrigued me with the Mexi-Cali chocolate flavor. I wasn't sure about trying so they gave me a sample. Umm, not bad.... More
