Neat Covered Patio

On a cold sunny day it was nice to be able to sit outside in the sun inside the covered patio. The service was very good. The food was tasty and the beer was cold. I don't know what else one could ask for. I'll be back if I am in the neighborhood looking for a beer.

When we arrived we had to wait until one of the oversize booths opened up, as we are aparty of seven. The booth was large, we filled it with many different cocktails and beer. The dishes we ordered were delicious, the de or takes me back generations, it's pretty neat.

We were down to visit the University and, as usual, we wanted a comfortable place to relax after a 9-hr drive. After getting a recommendation to visit Phil's we decided to try it over other places because it was described as more of a "Tavern than a Lounge" and we wanted it to be as casual as possible. Yep, they... More

I went to Phil's with my adult children for lunch, we sat outside on a very pleasant day under the umbrellas. The lunch was great, I really liked my sandwich and both of my children enjoyed their meals as well. Great draft beer and great service. Kyle the owner is a really friendly bartender. Great place and we will go... More

Phil's Continental Lounge is one of those comfortable, "everybody knows your name" local joints. It's been in business for decades and is an institution in Richmond. The food is great, especially my favorite, the Sailor Sandwich. They also have delicious homemade soups every day, 3 or 4 to choose from. I stopped by for lunch two weeks ago (had a... More

This was first time at new Phil's. When I walked in you could smell the stink from the restrooms. Even though this is a new place it has quickly become as filthy as the old Phil's. The owners are simply dirty people. Burgers are still good, but the smell makes me queasy. I'll never go back.

Phil's has been around a while... and in its remodeled state it continues to do a good job delivering the basics -- burgers, dogs, BLTs etc. -- with good cheer, and most importantly, with above average quality. If you're looking for a reasonably priced lunch, or a place to take the family on a week-night that offers a pleasant sit-down... More

Slow roasted beef sandwich with sweet potato fries was very good. Fried oyster appetizer, was ok. Small oysters, a bit over salted. Others in party had super size salads, reported as very tasty. Another had BBQ brisket sandwich, and didn't like it so much. The bun was the culprit in this case. Very loud atmosphere, waitress had to lean into... More

The new Phils is not the Old Phils - for all the wrong reasons....stopped by their with my better half for dinner the other night and was highly dissapointed! I've been going to Phils for years and the new site is small and cramped, it was almost empty (getting ready for Thursday Kareoke - which packs them in) - and... More

We went with another couple for dinner last week and as the evening wore on the decibel level increased until conversation was impossible - if that's what you like then this is the place for you. Frankly, had the fire marshal stopped by he probably would have emptied the place. The service was slow, but considering the crowd probably not... More
