Great Mojitos at a great price during Happy Hour! ($4). Appetizers were excellent - fried calamari and the " Cuban Sandwich" Spring rolls were an awesome mix of favors with a yummy mustard dipping sauce. Server was attentive and friendly. Although smoking (of cigars) was permitted in the contained bar area - we did not experience any smell of smoke... More

Our husbands enjoyed smoking cigars after a great meal (and the ventilation is excellent) and fabulous cocktails. Service was good and he place was busy on a Friday night after music on Brown's Island

Hello 1MizChiz, We are so glad you had a great meal with good service and were able to enjoy a cigar after dinner. It's great to see when our guests notice the hard efforts put forth by our Staff. Thanks for the ventilation comment as we strive hard (with 8 smoke eaters and 8 ceiling fans) to eliminate any smoke... More

The space is pretty cool and trendy, and the wait staff is good. I don't have many other good things to say about this restaurant, however. A major problem is the smoke smell throughout the restaurant, including in the non-smoking section. We were told there is a separate A/C system for the smoking section, but this problem simply shouldn't exist... More

Hello DNPINVA, We are happy to hear that you were able to see how cool and trendy our building is and were given good service. Our drinks are good and the Salsa dancing on Thursday nights is exceptional. You should come for the lesson at 8pm or DJ dancing at 9pm. I am sorry that you did not appreciate our... More

Havana 59 is a fun spot. I ate there twice during my stay in Richmond. Both meals were excellent. I had one of the chef's specials each time. One was an aged steak and the other was duck. Both were great. The bar is a fun scene as well. But you'd better like or tolerate cigars as most people are... More

Hello Rogerwilco123, We wanted to say "thanks" for the great review and are glad you got to experience our food, service and ambiance. Is our Chef not amazing with what he can do with food? Thanks for noticing the efforts we have made in having a virtually smoke-free cigar lounge. Salsa dancing happens each and every Thursday. Be sure to... More

Last ate here about 13 years ago BC (before children)! Were passing through and made special stop for dinner. Everything was tasty. The mango mojito and sangria, the Cuban nachos (fried plantains with beef and black beans and toppings), the sampler platter with Ropa Vieja and more. Sat on roof last time, which is still neat memory. This time, sat... More

My daughter was visiting from Asheville NC last week. She is very involved with Salsa dancing at the Loft Hotel there and wanted to take us to experience the salsa dancing at Havana 59. We went early to get dinner and drinks before the dancing started. I used to live in Venezuela and I loved the dish called Pavillion which... More

I always go here for happy hour for the $4 pork morsels & calamari, white sangria & mojito! They also have specials for wine & beer. The top floor bar is beautiful to sit and hang out. Downstairs at the bar you feel like you're really somewhere in Cuba enjoying fresh drinks instead of the middle of a busy city.... More

The food was very good and the service friendly and the character was nice too. That said, even in the non smoking section, there is a fair amount of smoke in this building.

Nice Atmosphere downtown. Service was great. The empanada appetizers were very good and tasty. I was not as impressed with the main meal... the Taste of Havana. The meat was slightly tough...none of it was very well seasoned. The plantains (my usual favorites) were no way as sweet/soft/ripe as they should have been. I ate 1/3-1/2 of everything...picked over.
