Most Authentic American - Super Fun and Great Taste

Helen's is such a fun place, the back room is my favorite for a large group as it resembles the restaurant in Madrid where Socialism began. But really, it's the food ... always fresh and cooked to perfection. The salads and mussels are among my favorite and locally well known, the steak... read more

We had lunch, or brunch if you prefer, at Helen's after visiting the VMFA. Had a great lunch, wonderful service from everyone and wonderful menu. I was especially pleased with the vegetarian choices and my husband loved his homemade corned beef hash. Everything is made on site. And the bloody marys were just right. Perfect Fan restaurant and worth going... More

We loved the wine - Savignon Blanc - food - great appetizers - and service (we had ZsaZsa serve us at the bar). I would highly recommend this place; we will be back.

Helen's is definitely one of a kind in Richmond. I love going back. It is always a relaxing evening. Casual atmosphere and decor but serious food and service. Seafood, meat or burger lovers, vegetarian, will find something to their liking. Nice wine selection. Very diverse. I personally love the mussels or the calamari appetizers.

Drove thru Richmond on way back from Williamsburg and stopped here for brunch. Boy are we glad we did. Lovely little place! We were seated at the back which we felt we had our own little room. Menu had many interesting twists. We had the Egg Benedict, Chocolate Chip Pancakes, French Toast and omelets? All were delicious, including their homemade... More

This was our first visit to Helen's and what a delightful experience. Loved the setting and atmosphere. Much of restaurant original to the space when it was a pharmacy and then converted to restaurant in 1935. Vintage but well maintained. Background music went perfectly with the space and added to the retro feel. Staff was pleasant and knowledgeable. Service nicely... More

Very little has changed here since it opened in the 20's, and that's the reason to come. It's a little cramped, it's a little noisy, but that's the price you pay for authenticity. The food and service are first rate, and I especially appreciate that they store and serve their red wine from a cooler and not at room temperature.

LOVE this place! Food was great as was service. Omelets, veggie sandwiches were excellent paired with good coffee and a Mimosa made for a perfect brunch!

Good value fro the money. I met a client there for lunch it the food was great and so was the service. They presented our food and left us to be able to discuss business and yet were right there is we needed anything.

Went to Helen's for brunch with some friends and had a splendid time. Located in the Fan District, this place is nicely decorated with the copper topped tables, bar and copper painted ceiling that resembles stamped copper. Seated by the window overlooking the street, our server was prompt, helpful and very delightful. The bloody Mary's were superb and strong. For... More
