Lunch

Rustic Italian food cooked fresh. The building is a dump but don't be fooled on the looks. Food is about as good as I've had anywhere, and the price is fair. Portions are sufficient and filling. Don't ask to change or add anything to the dish, the chef does not take suggestions. Sit, eat,drink... read more

This place is always very crowded for good reason. It looks kind of run down from outside and inside is not a ton better. You will likely have to wait, but it is worth it. However, the food is incredible. Their house wine is a Montepulciano and is a great value at $20. We always get the squid, white bean... More

Solve the wait by going with 6 people and make a reservation; otherwise you have to get there by 5:00. This is the only place "in the world" that I order the pork chops as they are the best ever. Beauty of going with 6 is you can order four different entrees (some double serving) and enjoy a family style... More

Get there early, grab a bottle of wine from the back and enjoy the full experience. Everything on the menu is excellent.

Go early and avoid the 90 minute wait. Don't go here for atmosphere or relaxed dinning, but the food is out of the world. The wait staff tonight was kind to the children and helpful with the adults. Parking is on the street. Yes, they need it enlarge the place and offer large selection of wines. But until they do eat... More

The pork chops are worth the wait, the small tables and loud atmosphere. They are juicy and seasoned with a spicy pepper that runs through the center of the chop. The crab meat spaghetti doesn't skimp on the crab or flavor. Hot sausage and peppers with spaghetti is bold and delicious. Start off with the squid, white beans and arugula;... More

I've started to notice most hole in the wall restaurants in Richmond have the best food ever. I went for lunch and before I went I notice the reviews for this place were horrible based on the service. The food was great and the service was fine with me. Our waitress waited on 7 tables by herself and still made... More

We had an amazing meal at Mamma Zu's. Everything is freshly made and absolutely delicious. The Rockfish was expertly prepared, the Tuna Steak was one of the best I have ever had, and don't get me started on the spaghetti with sausage and peppers because I could talk all night about that. Oh yea, the cannoli and tiramisu were to... More

Always great real Italian. My favorite restaurant in Richmond. Have been to Italy several times and this restaurant and it's sister Edo Squid come the closest to real Italian.

Often a line and with good reason. Food is excellent and moderately priced in a casual, relaxed setting. Service is friendly and competent. Always a satisfying dinner.
