We specifically wanted to go to Halfway House due to it's historical significance. We were pleasantly surprised to have a wonderful lunch with excellent service. Our food was very well prepared and delicious. Our drink glasses were always full. We recommend it.

We met some friends that love this place and we were not disappointed. To start you get some very good bread with delicious butter and also cinnamon rolls, yes I said cinnamon rolls! Their Jumbo Fried shrimp is very tasty, the Prime Rib was very good as well. Didn't love the twice baked potato but was not bad. But really... More

This was my first visit to this restaurant after having planned on multiple times over the years to go here. I love the history behind the place (visited by Washington, Lafayette, and served as Union Army headquarters). The dining area was as expected-nice ambience. Service was solid, excellent spacing between appetizers, entrée, and dessert. Ordered the blackened duck which was... More

I've come to the Halfway House for years to entertain business partners, and brought my husband here, for the first time, to celebrate our anniversary. It was a great experience. The Halfway House has never failed to provide everything we've hoped for: a feeling of intimacy in a most interesting atmosphere, perfect service, and the best food. If you can't... More

The first time we ate here was approximately a month ago on our drive down to Florida. The petite filet and artichokes and onion soup were delicious. We stopped back on our way home because we had enjoyed the ambiance of the historic building, the food and our delightful server. Unfortunately, this time it was not good. We ordered 2... More

Was not our first visit nor our last. Always outstanding food, terrific historical surroundings while dining. Attentive, friendly staff as well. Menu is great but wait to hear the specials! Look forward to our next visit.

My partner and I went to Half Way House for a an anniversary celebration on the drive back from Atlanta to DC, and overall we felt that it was a very classic yet simple place with tasty food. I had never heard of this restaurant, but my partner had and had been wanting to go here for some time. The... More

I've read some of the mixed reviews and it was with trepidation that I made reservations... I knew it would be pricey, but it was a special occasion. What a lovely surprise - we entered the basement, which is so interesting - brick walls, soft lighting, real flowers, candles on the table... The fact that the building is so historic... More

We stop at a motel in the area on our way back from Fl. We just ate there on 4-2-13 , also ate there last yr. The dining room is charming and the room dates back to1865. The food is very delicious and the service very efficient. It is quite pricey considering the mostly industrial area it is in.. I... More
