The Half way house is a must see if your in the area visiting. The ambiance is just wonderful, the staff is excellent and knowledgable about the history of this place and the food is terrific. It looks like it would be a perfect setting for a small wedding or anniversary too with their facilities upstairs.

My husband made reservations for an evening out...love the intimate charm of this historic home. The food is absolutely delicious (it is on the pricey side)and the staff was attentive! We have been a couple of times and it was nice that the staff remembered us being there before.

This is a triple-purpose stop: (1) an important place in the story of the Yankee General Butler’s initial attempt to seize Petersburg; (2) an historic inn building that is quite well preserved; (3) an above-average restaurant. Note that the available photos we saw on the web do not do justice to the architecture and construction details of the building. We... More

Well The name of the restaurant says exactly what you are going to get Halfway everything, if you like your soda coming from a flat 2-liter then this is your place. Prices that do not compensate the food that you are receiving and a atmosphere that is nothing special.

We went with some friends who we were visiting nearby. Even before we came they were pumping us up for dinner here. Boy I was really surprised when we got there! As we were walking in our friends pointed out the kitchen which was located outside the tavern. The food is made in the(original) kitchen area and walked over to... More

This 1760 restaurant was a stagecoach stop between Petersburg and Richmond. The food is very good and the atmosphere is even better. I enjoyed my evening with friends very much Yana was a great waitress and we enjoyed talking with her about the Czech Republic

My mother and I stopped here on our way back to Richmond from Williamsburg. The food was great and service friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Atmosphere was perfect.

The food here is really good and the service is fantastic. We go here several times each year and it is a place we like to take people visiting us. Eating in the basement of a house dating from the 1700s that served as a stopping place for the night between Richmond and Petersburg is special. Eating where some of... More

Historic and beautiful setting....just wish the food was as good as the ambiance. For appetizers we had crawfish and scallops. Crawfish good....scallops came in a rather sweet mornay sauce. My wife had the crab cakes and I had the filet with a crab cake. The filet was good but delivered cold. Crab cakes were just average....guess I am spoiled by... More

We found this quaint restaurant in Richmond Virginia, in a house that dates to 1776. The restaurant was in the cellar of the house. It was Sunday evening, and we were the only ones in the restaurant. I thought uh-oh.... We probably made a bad choice. I was so wrong. It was an absolutely delicious meal! Delicious lightly breaded fried... More
