New experience

It's a new experience, the food wasn't good with lots of meat but I didn't like it. Ask for cutlery if you don't want to eat with your hands!

My husband, some friends, and I came here on New Years Eve for dinner and all really enjoyed our meals. The owner greeted us at the door with a smile and a joke. Our friends had not had Ethiopian food before, so they were skeptical, but both said they were very happy with their meals. I am a vegetarian, so... More

Addis is the only Ethiopian game in town now since the competition closed for a move. I had gotten take out from here about one year ago and was not impressed. Last week my Ethiopian craving hit me so I ordered the meat sampler to go. I chose two beef items and one chicken item. The beef items were superb... More

Ethiopian food was a new experience for my wife and I but we will definitely be back again. We met for lunch with some friends and shared the collection of 6 vegetarian dishes. Ethiopian food is very shareable. It is served on what can be described as a pizza-shaped saucer of spongy dough. You tear off strips and use it... More

We love Ethiopian food and it was so great to find Addis tucked away on 17th st. We love the decor and art work. We tried the Ethiopian sweet wine and beer which was pretty good. We had sambusa for appetizer which is stuffed with onion and lentil and cilantro. It's a must try. We had fish and chicken with... More

This was our first time trying Ethiopian food and we thoroughly enjoy it. They have a meat sampler which was more than we could eat. The Awaze Beef was our favorite. The collard greens, lentils and potatoes were also yummy! Service was great and location is easy.

I'm Ethiopian, so believe me when I say it's good food! The owner is kind and wonderful to his customers. There's a weekly open mic every Tuesday night with talented poets, rappers and singers.

I first started eating at Addis about a year or so ago. It was my first introduction to Ethiopian food and I was certainly impressed with the dishes. Usually when I come here, I see the owner and a shorter guy I believe to be his son, or family member. If this guy is your server, you'll have great service.... More

We tried Addis and were so glad we did- it can definitely compete with the Ethiopian places in DC. The food was excellent and the injira was excellent and plentiful. We tried 7 things and the only thing we weren't crazy about was the collard greens. They were good, but a little bland. Aside from that we would order everything... More

Ethiopian food is certainly unique and I am not sure it is for everyone. If you are looking for traditional American food, this is not the place. But if you want something different than give it a try. I strongly recommend the vegetable dishes over the meat dishes. The vegetables were great. The meat dishes we tried were just OK.... More
