If you want Ethiopian in Richmond, DON'T go to Nile (which is terrible). Go here! Much better service, much more convenient parking, much better atmosphere.

We just returned from having lunch at this restaurant in Shockoe Bottom, Richmond. The food was very tasty and exotic. Lamb, beef, chicken and vegetables were part of our "injera" experience. Everything is serveed on a very large plate on a layer of injera bread. The food is eaten with injera bread folded around the food. No spoons, forks or... More

Well if you did not know Addis ababa means "new flower" in native Ethiopian language. So we ventured into this little restaurant in downtown cobbled stone Richmond to see what the food was like. I am a big fan of lamb and anything or anyone that makes it I am there at first and last bite. It took some time... More

I had the opportunity to dine here on Memorial Day. There wasn't much traffic that day and I was fearful that it could mean subpar food. I don't have extensive experience at Ethiopian restaurants but feel that the food here was among the best that I have had. The injera was perfect consistency. The vegetables were properly cooked and flavored.... More

Have never tried Ethiopian food and was very happy to have tried it at Addis. We arrived very early for dinner and the owner greeted us and was very friendly. Our server was as well and very helpful with the menu items. We started off with sambussas and ordered a terrific wine; I believe its called Axumite; a sweet red... More

Ethiopian fare is my favorite and Addis does not disappoint. Not only if the food delicious, the service is great too... A rarity in Richmond. Thursday they have half priced entrees during happy hour. Like them on Facebook to get updates.

Wish we came here before our last night in town. Thus place was great, worth the money. The food is tasty, just enough spice and the right amount of food to fill you up. This is a must visit especially with friends for family style eating.

This is a wonderful spot in Shockhoe Bottom, close by the old train station and with parking on the street. An exceptionally friendly owner gave some good advice for the four of us: order two meat dishes and the 5-vegetable medley and share it all. Warm rolled-up Ethiopian sponge bread (injera) was brought with the food platter, as one eats... More

The other Ethiopian restaurant in Richmond was closed for a month for remodeling, so I decided to try to find Addis on a weekend and get some Ethiopian food. There is street parking, and also if you drive to the end of the block there is a parking lot across from the farmers' market. I ordered Tibs and Shiro Wat... More
