I had the Poe's ??? off the menu. Don't remember the second word of this sandwich on the menu but it was basically a pastrami sandwich. The sandwich was pretty good. I would rate it 3-1/2 discs between average and very good. Reason being the meat had a bit too much fat/grizzle. Aside from that it had excellent presentation and... More

Even locals forget the Poe's serves good food. They also have a very good Sunday Brunch. Don't forget Bikes in the Bottom every 2nd Sunday. All kinds of bikes. I recently took my 82 yo father there for lunch. He loved it!!

You definitely need to get past the atmosphere (or lack there of) but Poe's has surprisingly good eats. Both their Reuben and their Ribs are particularly good. They give you a wide choice of sides and plenty to eat. They also have a good selection of draft beers. They lack sufficient parking and although their bar is often full of... More

Poe's Pub was a great find on a recent visit to Richmond. The greatness of this little bar is the friendliness of the patrons and staff. Everyone seems to know almost everyone else, and made an effort to engage me (a newby) as I entered. It seems that it is possible to go to the pub and find a quiet... More

I was pleasantly surprised to find some really good draft beer, including Devil's Backbone lager. The Virginia oyster appetizer is perfectly fried. Moist, but not greasy. We decided just to have apps, so ordered the pound of steamed shrimp and hummus plate. The shrimp was just what it should be, with a dish of cocktail sauce for dipping. The hummus... More

We stopped by for Sunday brunch and were not disappointed. Love the atmosphere and the food was delicious! Service was very good also, with lots of parking in front.

The menu seems like typical bar food, sandwiches, etc. I had the crabcake sandwich special on an english muffin. It was alright, that's about it. Great place to drink at though!

Poe's gives new meaning to the term "neighborhood hangout"...not only do they have really good catfish (fixed any way you like), Raven fries (which are especially yummy dipped into their BBQ sauce) AND of course their racks of famous ribs but if you follow sports there are screens, if you like a little al fresco, there's that and from time... Yes, they do have pub food, but they have a pretty extensive menu for a pub, with a pretty interesting variety. I had swordfish with sweet corn relish on a corn cake (Pancake to me) and it was DELICIOUS. We also had great, very friendly service, and all at a reasonable price.

We have been to Poe's several times over the past 10 years. It is exactly what you would expect, a decent bar, friendly service, and typical bar food. Since there was a change up in chef's we decided to go again. Overall it is the same.....which isn't a bad thing, we would prefer them not to try and be something... More
