Great restaurant!

Driving in my way back from virginia beach and decided to stop and eat, found that place, first reaction when we walk in was the delicious smell of the food. Clean and cosy. The price are really good as well southern homestyle food. Defiantly recommend it.

Don't be fooled by the name there is indoor and outdoor seating. Burgers are fresh, chilli is homemade. Way better quality than "chain" options

Visiting Virginia one night we wanted real food (3 hungry boys) in a real place (not a chain). This is the place. We tried everything on the menu. Particularly the fish options where exceptionality good. Vegetable sides positively special, deserts gigantic (that was too much).

This is an excellent place to eat a fine home cooked style meal. Prices are moderate and very reasonable. We were very happy with the food quality. Atmosphere was nice and well above average for a restaurant of this type. I was told that there are usually people inline waiting to be seated (a good sign). We waited about 15... More

I wasn't impressed. Visited on a Tuesday afternoon. I am glad I called in my order before I arrived 20 minutes in advance. I still waited 10 minutes. The menu is slim via their website so I didn't feel like I had as many options as The Crocker Spot (not endorsement). I ordered 2 pieces of catfish, one fried one... More

I liked most of the food we ate here. I ordered fried chicken and unfortunately I ordered white so the breast was huge and very dry. I could not eat that. I also had greens and potato salad, both of which were very good. We ordered cake for dessert and my family loved the pineapple coconut. I had the yellow... More

Mama Js is a ultimate southern comfort food. The restaurant is very much in demand in the Richmond, Virginia area. The food is flavorful and piping hot when served. If you are ever in Richmond, this is a must. You will not be disappointed.

Mama J's consistently serves very good food. It is one of our favorite restaurants in the Richmond area and we probably frequent here more than any other restaurant. Their fried chicken and fried catfish both are very well cooked and not at all greasy. Wonderful flavor and just cooked to perfection. Good portion size too. All sides are a la... More

A coworker brought some in today. What can I say? They were fresh, big and oh so tasty. I had a maple glazed and it was spectacular!🍩
