This place is pricey and tries too hard. Lots of much better places to eat in Richmond. Service was slow, and they didn't bring our appetizer out until after the meal.
I had a recent couples meal at the Blue Goat. It has been awhile since I had been there and much to my delight the menu has changes significantly. I had the oyster stew and a great salad. The service was superb and the food very tasty!
Stumbled upon this restaurant walking down the street and came upon their soup of the day sign: whiskey. The sign brought me in but the food will bring me back. A simple uncluttered menu of ordinary food made with the best ingredients. I had the pork rind appetizer; They came fresh, hot and still crackling to the table. Can you... More
I came here for a business lunch. The food is a creative blend of flavors and it is great. We were there the first day of their new menu. I had the roast salmon which was delicious. I added a side of smoked tater tots. They were amazing.
What's up with the schizophrenic management of the Goat? Just when they seem to be getting things right, they do a 180 and revert back to the confusion of past identities. The long wait (40 min for 2) could be avoided if the rearranged the dining space. We ordered two burgers, rare. Mine was bison and was delicious but the other was served cooked but cold. We sent one back they threw it back on the grill which I think is a "no no" in terms of health dept. That burger... More
Stopped by Blue Goat because it sound like an interesting place and cool name, not because of any particular review. The Blue Goat is located on the main strip of Grove Avenue near residential housing. The area is always charming to me, so to me the goat fits in well. After passing it twice, there is no above street level... More
Saturday afternoon, January 18, I had the pleasure of visiting The Blue Goat for the first time. Our server told us the restaurant had been open for almost three years. Where have I been?! I wish I'd discovered it sooner, because I loved every aspect of it. The decor includes exposed brick walls, exposed wood framed ceiling and huge, colorful... More
The Blue Goat was recommend to me by a passionate foodie that I met during a medical appointment. I brought friends here to thank them for their hospitality while visiting Richmond. We arrived early on a Sunday evening and were seated immediately. The restaurant wasn't full or busy. Our waitress was also the bartender which seemed odd and poorly thought-out... More
