Stopped by from Savannah, Ga. to NJ. Quaint place. Nothing special inside. Ordered Pulled Pork and slaw. Large portion of pork. Clean pork meaning no grissle, joint bone or joint meat. Not really spiced or cooked with vinegar like NC BBQ but tasty. Added their sauce. Average not eye popping but I ate it all. Slaw was finely chopped served... More

BLUF: Decent food, decent prices, the fresh-squeezed limeade is a must I came into Hog’s Head on a Friday night and it was packed. Luckily I was alone, because the only seating available was a single stool up at the counter (they have about 6 stools up there). Sitting up front also worked to my benefit, because otherwise I wouldn’t... More

Just stopped for lunch and wished I could have come back for lobster or brisket dinner. Had the baby back ribs which apparently are smoked overnight along with onion rings and Caesar salad.... delightful! My companion had smoked pulled chicken and coleslaw - perfect - in fact more than enough to take home the remaining treats for dinner at home!... More

This small unassuming place with a very relaxed atmosphere is not where I would expect to find some of the best food a city has to offer. But don't be fooled. The HogsHead Café is great Southern fare. Be wary of ordering appetizers though because almost everything we saw served is about twice the normal portion. The food was great...but... More

Absolutely the BEST - by far - "hole in the wall" surprise in Richmond! Fantastic food - generous portions - excellent service. We stumbled on the Hogs Head Cafe by accident and have returned several times since. Exceptional food - ribs, pulled pork, yummilicious homemade mac & cheese, fried oysters, sweet potato fries, etc.. etc.. etc... Never had a meal... More

Great food set in a very low-key southern atmosphere. The place can be a little challenging to find as is set back off the road in a small grouping of buildings, but don't give up as the experience is worth the effort. The variety of items on the menu makes the dining choice difficult, but no matter what you order... More

What a great find!! Tucked into the center of a small non-descript strip mall, sit this small narrow restaurant. We nearly didn't go in but my son(17) and I gave it a shot. GREAT Choice!! I had the ribs with a couple of sides and the fried oyster appetizer. My son had the hot dog contraption- forgot what they called... More

I browsed trip advisor for a restaurant in Richmond for a quick visit. The reviews were beyond spot on!!!! The portions huge, the food fantastic. The baked apples were unreal, you tasted ice cream when you ate them. I would recommend and visit again and again!

Favorite place to come for BBQ. Can's say enough about it. It is hard to find if you are not from the area, but worth the hunt. This is what southern cooking is about.

visited Richmond on a mini getaway. My sister checked trip advisor for the best place to eat so we decided to try it. Finding it a little hard but well worth it! It is a sign and one door in a tiny strip mall that sits at an angle from the highway, sign on the marquee is very small. Look... More
