Delightful Discovery at the VMFA

Great food, wonderful service, Southern hospitality. Overlooks the museum grounds from the 3rd floor. Will definitely return whenever we visit the museum again.

We ate here because we were in the museum and didn't feel like driving elsewhere. We were so pleasantly surprised. I had a special lamb and beef stew, and my husband had the monkfish. There is an outside deck, but of course it was closed in January. Nevertheless, the glass walls facing the deck gave the main dining room a... More

Food, drinks, and service are always top notch. Sunday brunch is amazing and fairly priced. The food and drink menus are changed frequently, making each visit a new experience. Great patio when the weather is nice.

We were visiting the museum and decided to stay for dinner! This place has great food and wonderful coctails. We were seated near the window with a view of the White House replica (explained by the hostess). Very lively bar scene, fun place!

If you have not read about it, you may miss this great restaurant on the 3rd floor with a great view. Prices seemed reasonable coming from DC. We had brunch and desert. The service was great, and it seemed like a team effort. Everyone cleared tables and re-arranged settings including waiters and greeters. There is outdoor seating available, but the... More

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts offers two dining options: a very fine cafeteria on the ground floor with salads, sandwiches etc. Amuse Restaurant on the 3rd floor is the "high-end" restaurant of the Museum, featuring a quieter venue, nice views, table service and linen napkins & table cloths. Amuse provided the 4 of us with an interesting selection of... More

Located on the third floor of the VMFA, Amuse is the perfect compliment to the Museum. Ambience is sophisticated with beautiful views of the Museum's gardens. The menu is an upscale twist on American favorites like an open face BLT beautifully crafted on homemade bread with heirloom tomatoes, thick sliced bacon, bib lettuce and a delicious sauce. Amuse has a... More

Small plates for 4 museum visitors, but one of the portions (the mussels) was big enough to pass around at least twice. Tuna tartare -- not something you often see in a museum restaurant. Very tasty, even if on the pricey side.

As first time visitors to VMFA, we stumbled onto Amuse of the third floor before they had opened for the day. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. They let us see the restaurant and suggested we reserve an outside table for lunch after we spent a few hours in the museum itself. What a wonderful suggestion. We returned later... More

First time to Amore and I was blown away. The atmosphere is perfect! Sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful view and the sunglasses they give you if your forget yours (awesome)! The service and food was delightful. We got the cheese plate and steak! Both delicious and the steak was perfectly cooked. They do not have an option for salads... More
