Excellent lunch service and inspired cocktails

Do make a reservation, because even on a Monday this place filled up quickly at lunch time. Delightful cocktail list (I had the Lazy Daisy) and many wine/beer/cider offerings, including splits of champagne. We chose deviled eggs du jour, Fr onion soup and Coq au Vin and none of it disappointed... read more

Located in the premier Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the restaurant and its offerings live up to the excellence of the art collection! And the beautiful view of the grounds and classic Pauley Education Center make you want to linger the afternoon away! As a VMFA Council member, I always try to fit in lunch or cocktails after my 'tour... More

I have been here several times for lunch and dinner. Have not yet had a dish that has had me craving to go back. Food is good but average. Cocktails have been good ea time. The atmosphere is nice. Large window overlook the courtyard, nice for lunch.

I go to Amuse for both lunch and dinner, and never does it fail to live up to expectations. The dishes are always an "Amuse-ing" take on traditional favorites. I'll never forget the luncheon salad I ordered year before last: spring vegetables in "soil"! Who could resist trying such a dish? And the "soil" was a combination of ingredients that... More

We get to Amuse about 2-3 times a year usually for lunch. Never fails to be an enjoyable experience. Food always excellent, service always gracious and attentive and the location and view are excellent. Always recommend.

Recently went for dinner with friends who had some dietary concerns. Although we still love Amuse for the reasons in my first review, I have to share that we were astounded by the attitude we encountered for this dinner. Chef was absolutely unwilling to make any modifications for our vegan friends and would not make any substitutions or changes in... More

we had lunch with another couple and it was delicious. why not 5 stars - one drink so-so, one soup so-so and one entree so-so but the other soup and three entrees delicious. The crab cake with hoppin john over fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese was incredibly delicious. Good service and lovely experience.

Who would think that food this good would be served at a museum? I sure didn't. Recently visited and had lunch in the Amuse Restaurant. The oyster appetizers were out of this world! The Arctic Char was delicious and well presented. Others in my group were equally impressed with their meals of Kung Pao beef and seared scallops. Had a... More

Amuse is a great place with wonderful garden views. When planning a visit to see one of the exhibits at VMFA make sure to call for reservations because it is very popular and plan ahead for slow service. When I say slow I mean that it took about an hour to get breakfast items and coffee for 4 of us.... More

If you are visiting the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (and I highly recommend you do) stop by first at Amuse or at the front desk of museum and make a lunch reservation. It's a really good, authentic southern restaurant. Fine dining, Richmond style at its best. Try the fried green tomatoes if it is on the menu. But everything... More
