One of my favorites in Richmond

If you're used to lousy, overpriced restaurants in museums, you're in luck: this is NOT what you're expecting. Amuse is fine dining, and while it's not a cheap eat, what you get is good value for the somewhat above average dinner in Richmond. I'm habitually a seafood eater, and the various fish... read more

More than a prosaic museum cafe for a quick and cheap nibble - if that's what you prefer, check out the Best Cafe on the museum's ground level. Amuse is more upscale, and much more special. Decent wine list and great drinks, appetizers and entrees from a limited menu, seasonal and themed to current exhibits. Excellent bar and wait staff... More

This is a nice little cafe at VFMA. It has a good variety of food that can be enjoyed while at the museum. Enjoy the food and then go back and look at all of the exhibits. Have FUN!!!!

While visiting Richmond over the holidays, we were fortunate to enjoy lunch at the Museum. We had no reservations so we decided to eat at the bar and had a fun time. We started with pomegranate champagne and toasted the holidays. One person got the lettuce wedges with blue cheese which was very tasty. Then we ventured on to the... More

We enjoyed cocktails and a cheese plate before the Rodin exhibit. The restaurant was not crowded at 3 in the afternoon on a rainy day, while the museum was. The service was great, the decor was beautiful and modern. The views of the grounds even on a rainy December day were serene.

A group of three had lunch here in early December. What a pleasant experience. Very chic, but not stuffy. A classy menu, but not over the top. Everything was excellent. The mussels were enough for a main course (don't be shy about asking for extra bread -- the broth is amazing for dipping into). The . Even our steak and... More

If you are looking for an exquisite dining experience, look no further than Amuse Restaurant at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. From the moment you walk in the door, you are transformed into an elegant, yet comfortable and inviting setting. Walls of glass bathe one entire side of the large dining room and adjacent smaller room, which is where... More

1 - Best bartenders in town; incredibly friendly & knowledgeable: explained how make celery bitters at home. Fig-infused bourbon to die for. 2 - Best kitchen in town: I am now so spoiled that this is the only restaurant where I will order beef. EXQUISITE Hangar Steak in bernaise sauce... I get the mixed green salad every time I go... More

I recently had lunch at Amuse after seeing the Rodin exhibit. It was a very pleasant surprise to find such a wonderful restaurant in the VMFA. Service was very good and the Ratatouille was excellent.

Had a great evening at the museum attending the Rodin exhibit and then just taking the elevator upstairs to eat dinner at Amuse. Luckily we had made a reservation the day before as the restaurant was nearly full when we got there. We got a nice table by the window with a view of a graceful building and courtyard. All... More
