We waited outside in the freezing cold for 30 mins to try one of their gigantic sandwiches. They have about 10 varieties. We tried the sultana (lamb & beef patties with romaine lettuce, tomatoes and Russian dressing). The wait was totally worth it. The meat with perfectly seasoned, the veggies crisp and fresh. They really packed the sandwich until it... More

My family went to this restaurant for breakfast and I've never seen such interesting, odd combinations of foods mixed together! I was wanting just the old fashion American breakfast and should have ordered ala carte, which would have worked. However, I tried one of the 'interesting' entrees (Mexican) and did not like it. The atmosphere was cozy (small) and service... More

Go out of your way to find this tiny (TINY) restaurant and have a brunch or lunch there. Go early, because you'll drive past it a couple times, and then have trouble finding parking, and then there will be a wait because - hey - it's so tiny. But, the menu is phenomenal, and easily a gourmet's dream, and the... More

I had the Dixie Dog and the cauliflower side dish. The dixie dog was well seasoned and substantial but the cauliflower was bland. Might be a good spot for a group of friends to share one of their massive subs but it's a bit overpriced imho.

Location: place is so teeny and in a such sketchy part of town (backside of VCU Seigel ctr area), be prepared to ride past several times before you finally spot it. Restaurantbecause: inside maybe has 5 tables, super small & super tight restaurant. The table are nearly on top of one another. I don't believe they have central air/heat so... More

The Black Sheep is exactly what you would expect for a RVA restaurant. Funky, fun and quaint. Parking is a major issue during the week, since it is located near VCU. The restaurant is tiny. Grab a window seat and relax and share a sub. The menu is descriptive and unique, definitely not your average sub fare. I would recommend... More

I am not saying it was bad, it was decent...It just fell very short of the hype. This is a very cute little quaint cafe in a college town, parking is impossible, and you play frogger with all the dumb college kids on bikes who dont seem to remember that car beats bike any day in a crash. They werent busy,... More

Stopped by here since my friend had heard such good things about this place and it was jam packed with people. I wanted to place an order to take out, and didn't know what to order, so I asked the waitress for a recommendation. She suggested the USS Congress and I thought it was good, but not knock your socks... More

We have eaten here on several occasions and have never had a bad meal!!! My favorite is the USS Brooklyn sub----amazing!! Very spicy, so if you like spice go for it!! Also try the dark chocolate Creme Brûlée-wowzer, be prepared to wait during peak times, a cozy little place to eat with limited seating. Worth the wait though!
