Don't care to be abused period, much less while we wait and pay for food at a restaurant. Terrible, terrible service and attitude by their staff. Left without eating because the staff was verbally abusive for doing nothing other than walking into their restaurant and waiting for someone to appear so we could be seated. "Hostess" came out and yelled... More

The Black Sheep is one of my favorite restaurants in Richmond, especially for brunch, though we also enjoy their famous battleship sandwiches. The restaurant has a quirky, casual atmosphere and the food is consistently amazing. The bread is fresh with a lovely crust, the portions are generous and then menu creative. We have always found the service friendly and attentive.... More

Creative international cuisine in an intimate, artsy dining room. The Black Sheep never disappoints me and I've eaten here for years. There is often a wait of 30-60 mins, so be prepared for that. The space is small and it is difficult to accommodate large groups so be aware of that as well. Awesome brunch! The food is an excellent... More

Went on a Saturday morning with a group of 7. Were told there'd be "at least" a 45-minute wait. Put our name on the list, waited a while, then told them we'd walk down the street for coffee. Before we left, they updated our wait time to "at least" 30 minutes. We kept our eyes on the time and returned... More

The subs are huge and amazing, but holy cow. We were there early this past Saturday night and got the Bouillabaisse special. It was delicious (perfect for a cold night). Cod, scallops, shrimp, mussels, tomatoes, and potatoes in a tomato-fennel broth, with toast to sop up the broth. I don't even know what it cost, because I didn't care. :)... More

I went here after watching an episode of Man-vs-Food. The subs are a good size for sharing between 2 or 3 people, depending on how hungry you are. The flavors are simple and good. Nothing mind-blowing, by any means. Bread texture is great.

We went to The Black Sheep after reading the rave reviews.. and it did not disappoint us. We reached around 10 AM on Sunday. The place was full and there were about 5 people ahead of us waiting to be seated. Its a very small place. But the staff is extremely efficient and we were seated within 10 minutes. People... More

Everything we had was delicious. Highly recommend! The full subs are a complete baguette. Ms. P pimento sandwich is a good bet.

The Black Sheep is a tiny spot just a block north of VCU. It's menu is as eclectic as its decor and it specializes in Battleships--its own answer to the submarine. Huge, inventive sandwiches made with amazing bread, they never fail to delight. My husband and I just had lunch there last week and shared a full Battleship (although two... More
