Worth checking out if you can find parking

I went to Black Sheep on a Sunday evening. Finding a place to park was a bit of a pain, but I didn’t have too bad of a walk when I finally found a spot I could squeeze my SUV into. Inside the place was packed too, I was lucky to grab the last table available when I showed up.... read more

This place is worth the trip for the unusually large and colorfully named Battleship sandwiches. Part of the Black Sheep's "War of Northern Ingestion" Menu. As a storyteller, I appreciate the storytelling nature of their menu. Southern fusion is Richmond's specialty, and this place is most charming just for these sandwiches: the SS Sultana:grilled spiced ground lamb and beef with... More

My daughter found out about this place and off we went during a visit. There are so many choices for the sophisticated palate so my husband and daughter were in a state of complete delight. After a few substitutions, my meal was great.

My friend and I dropped off here on a stop over before a trip to Washington DC. The waitress was very kind as she helped us with out selections. The Pork chop & vittles is absolutely scrumptious, USS Brooklyn was OK. The Omnivore Soup idea is great but in honestly thought it was to0 rich. I would definitely go back... More

Stopped here on the way back to FL. We ordered the Congress and the Sultana. We arrived around 4 so it wasn't really busy and we were immediately seated. The congress reminded me slightly of a cuban sandwich and the pork was really juicy and the pineapple on it was a nice touch. The sultana had similarities to a gyro... More

We got 4 sandwiches to feed multiple families in town for the holidays. The ingredients were fresh, the flavors strong, the fun names creative, and the acombinations delightful. Our favorite was the USS Wabash. This restaurant has been recognized by TV shows & was definitely a good choice.

We waited outside in the freezing cold for 30 mins to try one of their gigantic sandwiches. They have about 10 varieties. We tried the sultana (lamb & beef patties with romaine lettuce, tomatoes and Russian dressing). The wait was totally worth it. The meat with perfectly seasoned, the veggies crisp and fresh. They really packed the sandwich until it... More

My family went to this restaurant for breakfast and I've never seen such interesting, odd combinations of foods mixed together! I was wanting just the old fashion American breakfast and should have ordered ala carte, which would have worked. However, I tried one of the 'interesting' entrees (Mexican) and did not like it. The atmosphere was cozy (small) and service... More

Go out of your way to find this tiny (TINY) restaurant and have a brunch or lunch there. Go early, because you'll drive past it a couple times, and then have trouble finding parking, and then there will be a wait because - hey - it's so tiny. But, the menu is phenomenal, and easily a gourmet's dream, and the... More

I had the Dixie Dog and the cauliflower side dish. The dixie dog was well seasoned and substantial but the cauliflower was bland. Might be a good spot for a group of friends to share one of their massive subs but it's a bit overpriced imho.
