I went to Juleps new location on Grace St. last night, and came away quite impressed by both the food and the new space. It is light and airy with out being sterile, with seating in the bar area as well as the dining room. It appears they have taken the food up a notch, even though it was always... More

Juleps has kind of a big reputation but it must have been based on its past. We had the famous fried gren tomato appetizer - holy yuck - the tomatoes were very thickly cut and they did not get fried through and were essentially raw; the pimento cheese that is on the side really doesn't work;- it just bizarre. The... More

Start with a verde mojito then dive into the scallops and enjoy the crab cakes! Its a short walk from the downtown hotels like Hilton Garden Inn and lots of new restaurants along Grace Street, the new "Restaurant Row". Atmosphere is upscale but not stuffy. Staff is friendly and helpful. Not open for lunch yet, but packed on a Monday... More

What a treat for a couple from California. True Southern hospitality and cuisine. Hubby had shrimp and grits (that were AMAZING!!) and I had their crab cake which was just that - basically lump crab without fillers. We enjoyed Banana's Foster for dessert, which was prepared at our table. Our waiter, Randy, did a fantastic job. When he found out... More

Richmond, VA, has enough "southern cuisine" eateries to feed an entire Army of the Confederacy, but only one, Julep's, reaches into the gastronomic stratosphere to be comparable with the nation's best restaurants. For years Julep's earned top repute among its fellows at an earlier location. It recently moved to a site uptown and acquired master Chef Matthew Tlusky. There, I... More

This unique restaurant is located in the oldest continuously used commercial building in Richmond! The interior displays the workmanship of the early 1800s. The chefs are creative with tasty Southern style cuisine. It is a terrific venue for a group to have cocktails and a memorable dinner!

We chose Juleps because it featured "Southern cuisine". It is housed in a fairly rundown part of Richmond, in handsome premises which claim the longest continuous commercial use in Richmond. A grizzled veteran parked our car for us and had it waiting when we wanted to leave. We started with a delicious mint julep - what else? - and went... More

An absolute jewel of a restaurant. We were seated upstairs....wonderful atmosphere..high vaulted ceiling with rustic exposed beams. Low noise level. Our group ordered veal sweetbreads, rabbit, shrimp and grits, steak and scallops. Delicious all...cooked to perfection. Our server was Adam...he was charming and efficient. Five stars not enough for this fine eatery. We are from DC area with lots of... More
