A quiet out-of -season lunch

We found Egesta Mare on a Saturday lunchtime when the majority of ristorante were firmly closed, however, we could hear sounds of sicilians enjoying lunch inside, so we took this to be a good sign and chose a lovely table outside, beside the pots of flowers on the steps. Everyone was friendly and... read more

It's possible that a Monday lunchtime in late October is not the best time to eat in a tourist spot in Sicily. We were two of a small handful of guests. Shame really, but the food did make up for it. The marinated prawns were a small challenge for my wife, but provided a very interesting take on the otherwise... More

After traveling to San Vito Lo Capo (not recommended) came back to the beautiful and quaint Castellammare de Golfo and found this place! Great food, amazing service, cozy ambiance. Will come back!

We ate here the first evening of our 4 day stay in Castellamare. Thought it as great. Next evening tried another restaurant but came back to this one for the next two evenings. Special mention for Gianina, the lovely waitress who was so kind. Would recommend this restaurant.

Loved this restaurant. The service is a bit unenthusiastic but the food makes up for it. Definitely recommend the "Egestana" ravioli for the primi!

We had our best meal in Castellammare del Golfo here. The dishes were really good, the seafood fresh and the portion sizes plenty. We shared a "primo", then each had a main course and shared a delicious desert. The restaurant is very nice for a romantic dinner or just a nicer family dinner. Prices are on the more expensive side... More

Once the waiter looking like a young Fernando Torres brought our drinks, we didn't see them for a while (we asked for sparkling water, got still, but it was no big deal). After finally they took our orders, we had to wait for quiet some time for our food to arrive. I think they should have asked if we'd like... More

The restaurant 50/50 locals and tourists. The food and wine delicious, fresh seafood. The service leaves much to be desired as almost everywhere in Italy. Not to hike with small children. Recommend.

Beautiful setting great service and lovely starter of prosciutto e melone. We ordered fillet steak in green pepper sauce: it wasn't filet possibly a thin piece of rump? 1cm thick & in various stringy bits. Tasted of nothing, tough as my shoe, & although we asked for medium rare (a punto sangue) in English & Italian it was overlooked. Proprietor... More
