Superb food but expensive

Freedom café seems a very strange name for an expensive restaurant. We entered it for lunch whilst in Castellammare del Golfo and were persuaded by the hostess to sample the antipasto of Sicilian sarde presented in various ways (a 'taster' dish of sardines and small fish). We loved our meal. The pasta with pistachios was particularly wonderful. Antonella was a perfect waitress. Everything about the experience was superb. For a small town off-season, we were a little taken aback by the price of the entree (15e), but the delicious food made up for it.

We were looking for a place to eat on the way to the airport on our last day in Sicily and found this place by coincidence. Antonella is the perfect host and really friendly - we followed her recommendations and ordered the specials of the day. Both the appetizers (plate of several tipical sicilian dishes) and mains (pasta with fish... More

We stumbled across Freedom Cafe/'Ntonia during an afternoon in Castellammare, its open and friendly feel drew us in. The owner/chef Antonella is just lovely and was talking to us about how she built up her restaurant from a simple cafe, to the delightful restaurant it is now. She is changing the name to 'Ntonia to reflect this, but I couldn't... More

We ate seafood in this seafood and pasta restaurant. It was quiet on a week day lunchtime in early April but that meant we had great service. We started with mussel soup which was fantastic the best I have eaten. Then we had ravioli stuffed with fish and vegetable it was beautifully cooked and tasted wonderful.

While driving round and round Castellammare for half an hour, vainly looking for a particular high-ranked restaurant, we kept going by this modest-looking restaurant/pizza place right on the waterfront. It was the off- season, so not many tourists were in town. The only customers we could see in the dining room were a very large, apparently local family, but on... More

After vainly searching for the #2 rated restaurant on trip advisor (does it still exist, is the address wrong?) we randomly entered Freedom Cafe, there to have the finest meal we have had here yet. We started with the soup, then had "treangolare", triangular ravioli stuffed with fish and shrimp and covered in a sauce of olive oil, mint, and... More

My wife and I were in Trapani for the week and we found ourselves in Castellammare del Golfo in March. Unfortunately most of the restaurants were shut and there were very few people around, we saw some movement if Freedom Cafe and we thought we'd try our luck. The restaurant was closed but the owner welcomed us in, went out... More
