My husband revisited me and we decided to stay at the Charles Hotel because it's closer to walk there from my class. We walked from the hotel to the Grendel's Den in a cold bitter prolonged-winter night. I instantly liked the crowd, ambience, and meal being served. They even had discount hours. So many options near by (Shake Shack, Peet's... More

This establishment is in the middle of Cambridge, shows astonishing qualities in regards to eating qualities, service is good and quick, and the people are friendly. You also can have a German beer, with bbq beef, greek salad etc and it is still very affordable.

Such a laid back cool vibe to this literary, charming bar. You're bound to find some Harvard professors or students. No TVs, little distraction. Great soothing music. NO Bud Lt. Local beers only.

This place was very inexpensive compared to Boston proper, but the service was marginal. There were only two of us, so we sat at the bar hoping to get faster service. It took over 10 mins to be served and the bartender/waitress had no personality whatsoever. Luckily it was happy hour, so we got two appetizers and paid less than... More

This place is located in a lower level space in Harvard Square just off campus. They have patio seating up top would recommend going inside if it is not crowded. I like dark, wood and stone type bars and this fits the bill. Had lunch and it was above average pub fare. May get a bit crowded and hectic at... More

A bit divy but really cozy and fun. The bartender was very attentive and had a great knowledge of what he was serving. We only had drinks because we had just come from dinner but the food looked great.

I love the intimate, cozy feel of this place. But there's one main reason I'm reviewing it - the Yucatan pork burrito. Tender, slow-cooked pork with rice, black beans, cheese, and salsa verde - perfect with a pint. Delicious. My husband's burger was only so-so, but go anyway. The prices are already low, and from 5:30-7:30 on weeknights, dinner is... More

I'm not used to finding anything in the Boston metro area at a good or even a reasonable price. So far in my visits to the area pretty much everything is double or triple what I pay for the same items in other parts if the country. My son was between classes at the Kennedy School at Harvard and suggested... More

Was visiting a friend in Boston and was alone for a few hours. I saw the sign advertising spiced wine so stopped inside. The spiced wine was delicious and each glass had a cinnamon stick. Also had excellent new England clam chowder. Told my friend about it and we went back after she got out of work and had an... More
