Eat Outside and Listen to Musicians in the Park

The outdoor seating area is next to a little strip of grass where musicians play, so you have built-in entertainment. The food for lunch was excellent, so we went for dinner a few nights later and were slightly disappointed. I had the spinach pie and it was delicious at lunch but overcooked at... read more

The appetizers were average & the beer was okay. I guess I can't complain since everything I ate was half price. However, this really is a 'den', that being said there is a terrible musty basement smell.

Stopped for dinner after a great time at Fenway. Staff were really unfriendly, not interested in serving, can only comment on the jarred salsa and chips because we never got the food we ordered.

Located in the heart of Harvard Square, Grendel’s is a great place to go for great drinks, cheap food and a cozy, relaxed spot to meet up with friends. It’s a bit of a dive, with some tight quarters but if you’re ok with that, you’ll love it here. There is a pretty solid selection of beer, plus a few... More

My husband revisited me and we decided to stay at the Charles Hotel because it's closer to walk there from my class. We walked from the hotel to the Grendel's Den in a cold bitter prolonged-winter night. I instantly liked the crowd, ambience, and meal being served. They even had discount hours. So many options near by (Shake Shack, Peet's... More

This establishment is in the middle of Cambridge, shows astonishing qualities in regards to eating qualities, service is good and quick, and the people are friendly. You also can have a German beer, with bbq beef, greek salad etc and it is still very affordable.

Such a laid back cool vibe to this literary, charming bar. You're bound to find some Harvard professors or students. No TVs, little distraction. Great soothing music. NO Bud Lt. Local beers only.

This place was very inexpensive compared to Boston proper, but the service was marginal. There were only two of us, so we sat at the bar hoping to get faster service. It took over 10 mins to be served and the bartender/waitress had no personality whatsoever. Luckily it was happy hour, so we got two appetizers and paid less than... More

This place is located in a lower level space in Harvard Square just off campus. They have patio seating up top would recommend going inside if it is not crowded. I like dark, wood and stone type bars and this fits the bill. Had lunch and it was above average pub fare. May get a bit crowded and hectic at... More

A bit divy but really cozy and fun. The bartender was very attentive and had a great knowledge of what he was serving. We only had drinks because we had just come from dinner but the food looked great.
