The location is a bit weird (in the basement) but the food is great! I especially like the buffet they have on Sundays.

We had fun eating there and the food was very tasty, so much that we took the leftovers home! No idea how traditionally Indian it was or not personally, but we were taken there by an Indian friend who obviously approved. Regarding it just as general food, it was very good. The setting is quiet and peaceful, too.

Couple of friends and I have dined at this place and found to be average or just above average. Nothing spectacularly delicious. Have had better Indian cuisine elsewhere. Pros: 1. Located at Harvard Square, so reaching here is easy especially by the T. Cons: 1. Small and cramped sitting area.

Just off Harvard Square, Tamarind Bay's corner signboard and a big arrow appeared just as we were looking for a good meal. We found that good meal in this intimate downstairs spot, where the lunch buffet was just $8.95 each (okay, so a mango lassi was $3.50). It wasn't a HUGE buffet, but plentiful with a nice variety, and the... More

tamarind bay, ever since it opened some time ago (a decade? can't remember) has been known to have by far the best indian food around harvard square. the couple of times i was there, early on, i agreed. but i hadn't been in years. but last month, i had lunch there with my daughter, and was again delighted with the... This is a tiny spot on a side street in Harvard Square - you'll have to look for it. The food is well prepared and the service always friendly and attentive, in an intimate, subdued setting. Cognoscenti know to come here for the lunch buffet, which is one of the best deals in the Square, but dinner is also terrific.... More

This little restaurant is easily missed when you are walking around Harvard Square, but it is worth the venture down the stairs. The atmosphere is serene, and the smells are heavenly. The food is quite good. We had a lovely eggplant dish cooked in a rich cream sauce, and black lentils in a rich flavorful tomato-based gravy. We also had... More

Very nice food. We had the lunch buffet. The restaurant was a bit tight squeeze in terms of seating. But the food was freshly prepared and the service prompt and courteous. Will definitely visit again.

Drawing on regions not often represented in American renditions of Indian food, Tamarind Bay offers a tour of the tastes of India off the beaten path. We love the Lalla Mussa Dal (creamy lentil stew with a little spice) and the Vegetable Biryani (so flavorful and aromatic!).

There is no board on the street and no warning in the restaurant that car will be towed. The owner's car stands right outside and it is never towed. A very expensive Indian dinner ! Lighting can be improved to uplift the ambiance.
