Bondir is a very ambitious restaurant. They don't always hit the heights they're aiming for, but they certainly get an A for trying. It's a comfortable place. This is an expensive restaurant, and the quality of the dishes doesn't quite justify the expense. The setting is pleasant, a small number of tables for 2 and 4 in a small space. Subdued decor. We were really well treated by all the staff. The pace of the meal was relaxed, the food was OK, the wine was good. This... More

We first ate at Bondir Cambridge a number of years ago, when chef Jason Bond was first cooking there. It was always wonderful. On a recent trip to the Boston area we decided to try it again. It was still the cozy, intimate place it always was, but the menu has changed considerably after chef Bond opened his newer restaurant... More

Bondir was a great discovery to us. My husband was curious to try that one-window-restaurant he passed by every day on his way to work so we went. And it couldn’t have been better! We had a 4 course fixed price menu. Each dish was reasonably sized so that you would enjoy the entire meal without feeling overwhelmed, yet be... More

In preparation for a mini-break in Boston I downloaded the 50 top Boston area restaurants from Boston Magazine and read menus for several weeks before making reservations. I picked Bondir because it had a fireplace and thus sounded cozy and the food sounded intriguing. We had a long, cold walk from the Central Square T stop, and were thrilled to... More

Bondir's nondescript exterior and location makes it a great contender for the "hidden gem" category. So well hidden that I missed it in the cab, got out and walked a block back down Broadway. There's a warm foyer with a gas-fed fireplace, eclectic decorations, and a small dining room with about 16 tables nicely set for two-four diners. The waiter... More

We brought our foodie college son here for a special meal. Boy, were we disappointed. Food portions were tiny. The waitress was inexperienced and unfriendly. The atmosphere was uninviting.

We were 4 at this hole in the wall in Cambridge. A difficult locale to find parking. The restaurant itself is one long hallway with tables on either side set with white cloths. Lighting was pleasant and the background music was a bit intrusive but we had it turned down. A server brought the menus and wine lists. They were... More

Nice cozy eatery on Broadway, half way between Harvard and MIT. Only one set menu available, 4 courses plus dessert. Decent service, with an inevitable but pleasant dash of French. However, I did not find any dish to write home about. One has the impression that Bondir's success is more about Cambridge buzzwords than gourmet substance. Everything is (or at... More

My husband and I moved to the Boston area a little over a year ago and Bondir has been our favorite dinner date so far. Not a place we could afford to go every week, but worth it for a special occasion. Creative, delicious, artfully plated good with a great cozy ambience. A truly wonderful dining experience.
