Can't understand why this place would have 4 stars. Shockingly bad food. The salsa and guacamole were somewhat ok but the tacos literally made me gag (raw and bland and chewy meat, microwave-esque tortillas), the tamales were just gross. The burritos looked way too big and mushy to be anywhere near authentic, but the flautas looked somewhat edible. Didn't try... More

Went to Jose's for lunch and I'm going to be back. Had the only vegetarian thing on the menu; it was a combo of an enchilada, a chilli releno, rice and beans. it was awesome, nice sized portion and everything was really tasty. They also served some fresh made nachos with fresh salsa which they were happy to spice up... More

I was hoping for a Mexican restaurant in Boston that I really enjoyed. This was not it. Salsa was bland, both the lamb and chicken dishes ordered were very plain. Both were suppose to be spicy. I am giving up on finding a Mexican restaurant that I would return to.

This was a great, good value restaurant serving delicious food & excellent margaritas! Definitely worth a visit.

Jose's sits on the railroad tracks in North Cambridge and serves up an incredible assortment of Mexican food. The guacamole is super fresh and creamy. I love the fish or shrimp veracruzana. Last nigh I had a delicious taco with steak and chorizo with potatoes, cilantro and onions. Delicious. I have had the house special chile rellenos as well and... More

Every meal has been excellent here. We have now had the Burrito with Mole enough times to attest to 100% deliciousness... every time, no fail. Tortilla chips with salsa and guacamole are perfect. I would upload more photos, but the food is devoured too quickly to catch a snapshot. I think my statement yesterday sums it up quite well: "I... More

I visited Jose's for lunch on a weekday and had a very good experience. My somewhat customized order was done perfectly, and our server's recommendation of the black beans was right on as well. The decor is fun, and the menu has lots of options without being overwhelming. Highly recommended.

I admit it. I love fine dining. I also get the occasional craving for a simple, tasty, zesty, Mexican meal. Jose's is the perfect antidote! Great food, super-friendly, Spanish speaking, service. Especially appreciate they put up w my bad Spanish!

Boston is short on authentic Mexican options, but this out-of-the-way hole-in-the-wall is a great option for this area. Guacamole was terrific, as were the steak enchiladas I had. My wife really enjoyed her chimichangas. Lots of options for sauces/styles, good vegetarian options, etc. Ambiance is low-key but full of character unlike chain Mexican places. Certainly you could do better in... More

Mexican restaurants are usually memorable only if the get it wrong. You have to really try, to screw up Mexican food. Not only did these guys get the food right, they added excellent service and fair prices into the arrangement.
