I remember Jose's from their early days back when they were on Mass Ave. Then as now they were know for value providing quality authentic Mexican Food. For years they have been off the beaten path on Sherman Street. What makes the location spectacular is the sizable free parking lot adjacent to the restaurant. Inside is homey and service is... There's something so darn charming about Jose's. It's got a spunky yet intimate atmosphere with diners spread among three rooms in a two-story house in residential north Cambridge. Being separated from hot spots like Davis, Porter and Mass Ave really gives it that quaint neighborhood-y feel. Truth be told, atmosphere trumps the food but I find the food good enough... More

It's a mystery to me why Jose's is so popular. My husband and I had tried it years ago and found the food bland. We decided to try it again and were just as unimpressed. The atmosphere and decor are fun though.

We came here with friends, and had my teenage son and his friend in tow. The place is a little tight, space wise, but the decor and lighting helps make it feel super cozy & warm instead of cramped. My friends and I enjoyed a pitcher of margaritas, which were tasty. Not the best I've had, but good. I had... More

We were one of two couples in here at 930 pm and it took over an hour to get good! No drink refills or anyone visible to ask. Won't be back even though parking lot is huge!

We ate here the day before we left the Boston area, I must say I was a bit uncertain when I walked in but the noticed how many awards they had on the walls, then the experience started with one of the best Anjeo Margaritas I have ever had, and the regional and very traditional Mexican cuisine was superb and... Jose's is a neighborhood gem: great and cheap Mexican food. The outdoor seating in warm weather is definitely a plus. The warm tortilla chips with salsa are heavenly.

This restaurant is tucked away -- a bit off the beaten path. But, it is well worth the trip. The food is excellent. My family went (3 people) and we all enjoyed our meals. The staff is very nice. And, there is a large parking lot. Great food and very authentic.

I am from California and just finished my undergraduate degree in Massachusetts. One of the toughest things about being in Massachusetts all four years was the absolute dearth of good Mexican food. I may be spoiled since I am from California but Mexican food is so important to me and my sense of place, culture, and community. I came here... More
