Tunisian hole in the wall

On a quiet side street in Cambridge is this cozy Tunisian restaurant dripping with atmosphere. The owner is incredibly friendly and loves to talk to all the customers about her country, her food and everything else. Having been to Morrocco, I ordered a braised lamb shank tagine. It came so tender... read more

First of I love going to ethnic restaurants and am always looking for interesting new places to try. We came around 8:30pm, the tiny restaurant was still very crowded. After a short wait we were able to sit down. Service was good and three of us decided to eat a mixed grill sort of plate. (Merguez, lamb sausages and chicken)... More

The quality of the food was inconsistent. The appetizers were wildly overpriced, e.g. dates with goat cheese for $7! Dates were nothing special and the goat cheese was actually Greek yogurt, inexplicably. The Couscous was pretty good but the chiclet brochette was dry and stringy. I ordered the M'Katef, lamb chops in a very nice mint sauce, which was quite... More

We were ignored for 15 minutes when we first sat down. Service was poor. The food was unusually spiced and interesting. It was so hot and dark In there, that I couldn't wait to leave. They only take cash. It's not a place I'd want to go back to.

Being Tunisian, when i knew there was a tunisian algerian restaurant i wanted to try it out of curiosity, just to see how it compares to tunisian food in tunisia. what a great surprise! i had a couscous brochette and that was one of the best couscous i ever had! they also serve a local lemonade made with rose petals,... Went there with family to celebrate our daughter's graduation from college. I had an eggplant dish and others took chicken and lamb. We all enjoyed the food. Owners are working in this restaurant. They can be a bit overwhelmed with a crowded place and that was one of those busy nights. However, it was OK and we were not bothered... More

Great selection of authentic Algerian/Tunisian dishes, moderate prices, quiet location, vegetarian friendly meals, generous portions and great service! Will be back for sure.

We wanted a different cuisine that we could walk to from Central Square. The food was delicious, the atmosphere welcoming. The cheesecake specialty was worth savoring.

Not really 'African' food but Algerian-Tunisian cuisine. We have arrived on a weekend close to 4pm, which is their closing time, so we had to order fast. The place is relatively small and I guess that when it is full it is kind of hard to maneuver around the place. We had an Open-face tuna Sandwiches which was very good... More

We went to Baraka after dropping our daughter off for college. Walking in we were a little unsure--it's a tiny spot with only a few tables. The hostess, a gregarious woman in flowing Muslim attire, was very friendly and immediately made us feel welcome. We started with a carafe of the much-touted lemonade, which was indeed tasty, and shared an... More
