This was the second time I've had dinner here. The restaurant is lovely and makes you feel you are in a very different place. Great menu with many interesting dishes which seemed exotic because they were unfamiliar.... a wealth of vegetarian options.... food is varied and satisfying. Wonderful combinations of ingredients and flavors. Service first visit was great, second visit... More

As I am not really versed in explaining this type of Afghan cuisine all I can offer is it was one of the most memorable dinners I have had. The food for me was unique and well varied. The freshly baked pastry dishes and bread are a real treat. I had the heeka Kabab Prime Rib of Beef; marinated in... More

I found everything from the service to the food exceptionally satisfying here. The bread was so good that we could have just eaten this for a meal, but I'm glad we didn't. Both lamb and vegetarian dishes were tasty with unique blends of accompanying rice. Coffee, tea (with cardamom) and dessert were the perfect finish to a perfect meal.

and not any kind of rice I'm familiar with, and that's not a bad thing ! The food is very tasty ~ I skipped the breads because I was saving myself for dinner, but my companions heartily enjoyed it with the different sauces provided. We ordered the chapendaz (a beef dish), chowpan (a lamb dish) and kaddo and banjan challow... More

I have been a fan of the Helmand from its opening. I could rate it more highly in any way. The food is exotic and tasty, especially the lamb dishes, and the bread, which is baked on the premises. The service is first-rate. Everything is reasonably priced, in particular the wine list. It is therefore not surprising that the Helmand... More

I didn't know what I wanted to eat for dinner and boy am I glad that I decided to try something different while visiting Cambridge. This Afghan restaurant serves freshly made wood fired bread for starters that is served with three delicious spiced sauces. The meals my wife and I had were a beef kabob meal and a leg of... More

My wife and I had dinner at The Helmand on August 10, 2014. This is an Afghan/Middle Eastern restaurant, which has been given several good reviews. For this reason, my wife and I wanted to give it a try. We arrived around 8:30 PM, and the restaurant was at half capacity. We were promptly seated and given a menu. The... More

This is an Afgani restaurant where my favorite dishes are Kabuli pallow (afghan-style rice) baked with chunks of lamb tenderloin, raisins and glazed julienne of carrots for $16.50. I like this with a lot of the grated carrots. Even when you pay for more there are just a few. The side dish I really love is Kaddo Bourani/ Pumpkin with... More

I got to eat here on the company dime once, and that was the best money I didn't have to spend! The options for vegetarians were wonderful. I have never had pumpkin in so many different ways before and I was in love with the spices and presentations. The food was excellent, the service was excellent, and the wine was... More

I had an absolutely fantastic meal at Helmand Restaurant. Great service - discreet but attentive. Would highly recommend - one of the best meals I've had in a long time.
