Description: Rialto is a welcoming gathering place for the community and Charles Hotel guests. James Beard award-winning chef and owner Jody Adams embraces New England ingredients with regional Italian culinary traditions. Kitchen focus hops to a different region each month and features dishes like Ricotta gnocchi with sage brown butter and red kuri squash and our Grilled swordfish with Friulian bean stew, white wine braised cabbage and house cured bacon. Patrons enter the restaurant via a white stone path inspired by an ancient Roman road, passing by the illuminated onyx bar into the dining room. Curved banquettes and cozy nooks invite intimate conversation while pumpkin, olive and white draperies evoke the warm colors of the Italian countryside. In 2009, Rialto opened a 28-seat terrace offering guests an al fresco dining option. The Boston Globe awarded Rialto a coveted four stars in three consecutive reviews and Gourmet Magazine named it one of the "World's Top Hotel Restaurants". Rialto offers two classically elegant, private spaces, ideal for wedding receptions, business meetings, recruiting events, celebratory parties, and more.

I went as an invitee to this restaurant. It is located in the Charles Hotel, but is certainly a standalone dining experience. Our waiter was very nice and attentive, although some of his peers were less so. We sat in the bar area which does not offer the full menu. Our table ordered an array of small plates and each... Hard to believe this restaurant will soon celebrate its 20th anniversary. We've been meaning to go for some time and missed out 2 years ago when we first visited Boston. Planning this time around, we made it a priority to get out to Chef Jody Adams' restaurant. Took the subway from our hotel near Boylston station to Harvard station &... More

Went to Rialto on Saturday of Labor Day weekend. Overall, a nice meal. Started with Fisherman's stew which was terrific. Had lamb chops which were well prepared but not served as hot as I would have liked. My wife had Long Island duck which she loved. We sat outside next to the bar. It was a pleasant evening and it... I had waited so long to try it...and boy was I disappointed. The setting is very nice, elegant even. But why was mariachi music playing? And why did my lasagna have giant jalapeno peppers on it? And why did the smell of the dish almost make me gag? I waved my arms wildly but no one came over... for quite... More

Rialto has it down pat. Scrumptious food, excellent service, comfortable and subtle surroundings. Servings are the right amount, neither too much nor too little. Perfecto wine list. Also delicious mocktails! The one thing that makes Rialto real and not ideal: needs more chocolate on the dessert list. Watch out for the licorice-chocolate gelato -- not for unsuspecting victims. If you... More

Business dinner with two colleagues, service was attentive without being pushy as (sorry to say) some USA restaurants can be. Excellent wine list and interesting without being bizarre menu with something for all tastes and appetites. I had the "Tuscan Steak" which was cooked perfectly and was superb. Worth a visit if in Cambridge.

I had a terrible experience during my last visit ( we were abandoned by our server) but I ate her twice within a 5 day period and both times both food and drink were EXCELLENT and service was 1000 percent improved. Love the Amaro menu, inventive cocktails, and the SMALL PLATES which are well priced and generous enough to make... More

Great quiet, private, casual patio in an otherwise more formal, austere restaurant. Perfectly prepared Italian food. Best lamb dish I've ever had. Harvard Square fades away and you are in a perfect little spot. Lovely.

My dear mom celebrating 80th B-Day. Dear Dad called on me to plan....hmmm....12 people (ages 21 to 80), must be: best food, expert service, beautiful room, TDF B-Day cake, easy parking and memorable in EVERY way....no problemo! Particularly since NO one in our italian/irish clan would judge (insert hysterical laughter)! Rialto delivered in EVERY way! From first connection (holla Maribel),... More

There were 7 of us meeting for dinner. Some of us were delayed by traffic but the hostess was very accommodating when I called. Service was terrific. Room was quiet so that one could actually converse food a tad expensive but in most cases worth it. I had the grilled clams which were outstanding the rest had a tomato salad... More
