Description: The Red House specializes in locally-sourced, European & Mediterranean...
The Red House specializes in locally-sourced, European & Mediterranean inspired cuisine. Our seasonally changing menus features a variety seafood, poultry, and pasta dishes, many of which are prepared with greens and vegetables from our organic farm in Winchendon, MA. In crafting the restaurant's menu, owner Paul Overgaag and executive chef Marc Plourde have chosen to bring fresh organic foods and locally produced ingredients to center stage. In addition to our main dining room and bar-area, the Red House also contains three intimate private dining rooms which can comfortably seat between 8 and 14 guests. Perfect for your next family or business gathering, each of our three private rooms features authentic period detail, with fireplaces and original wide pine floorboards and woodwork. Additionally, we are able to provide customized-set menus for private diners and events as needed.

Amazing Appetizers, Not So Amazing Noise

Cute place, and we kept saying "Wow!" with every bite...the warm bread is INCREDIBLE, and we especially loved the mushroom phyllo...the cream sauce with it is phenomenal. Oysters were delicious! Perfect. Nice that some items were appetizer size/price or full dinner size/price. Cute tables and... read more

Oh man. We had an amazing celebration dinner in this hidden gem of a restaurant. We got the adres of a local or we would've never found it. They have a lovely terrace so we sat in the setting sun on a great spring evening. We went for the lobsters at happy hour, had a truck load of these (decadent!)... More

Perfectly located just couple blocks away from Harvard Square, is this comfortable restaurant that takes you back in time, with the greatest seafood flavors and top wines. The Red House is a must when visiting, you will leave with a big smile on your face ! Not the fanciest but simply the best.

My wife and I dined at The Red House on our first night in Cambridge. It was a short but nice walk from the Marriott Courtyard on Memorial (about 1.4 miles). I'm rating this a 3 because there were several things that could have been better while other things were great. Other may think some of what I rated low... More

I was alone in Cambridge and went to The Red House for diner. The waiter forgot me at the table for almost 20 minutes. I ordered a Lobster Chowder and Lamb. For my surprise there was only two pieces of lobster and the bowl was full of potato. The taste of the lamb was Ok but there were many small... More

a great chef produces wonderful food in this colonial building. Sit by the fire in the winter months. Outside when it is warm. Enjoy happy hour priced oysters in season. Great, small bar scene filled with Harvard profs and local business types. Best food in Harvard Square.

Started out with the heirloom tomatoes topped with mozzarella and basil pesto on a bed of spring greens. It was wonderful! Also had the appetizer size of the beef tip salad. It was also wonderful. Beef was cooked perfectly. The portions are LARGE. You can easily split dishes! Would definitely go back!

We recently visited the Red House restaurant in Cambridge, Massachusetts, located in the heart of Harvard Square. The restaurant is located in a former residence, and retains some of the quaintness of the original house. The menus is a limited one, but the food was very well prepared and tasty. We ordered the "Drunken Lobster Rigatoni" and the "Lobster Carbonara".... More

Enjoyed a great selection of appetizers instead of one main meal for one of our party. Goats cheese and zucchini frittata could have been a meal in itself. Mushrooms in phyllo pastry the same- light and yummy pastry but filling mushroom concotion was delicious along with an outstanding vermouth cream sauce. And one more thing the asparagus and roasted tomato... More

This is the worst restaurant I've been to in years. The service was terrible - no way to chill a bottle of wine until I went to the bar and begged for a solution, no oysters despite the fact that they were advertised as the special on the blackboard outside. The food was abysmal - poorly presented, gross looking really,... More
