Description: The Red House specializes in locally-sourced, European & Mediterranean inspired cuisine. Our seasonally changing menus features a variety seafood, poultry, and pasta dishes, many of which are prepared with greens and vegetables from our organic farm in Winchendon, MA. In crafting the restaurant's menu, owner Paul Overgaag and executive chef Marc Plourde have chosen to bring fresh organic foods and locally produced ingredients to center stage. In addition to our main dining room and bar-area, the Red House also contains three intimate private dining rooms which can comfortably seat between 8 and 14 guests. Perfect for your next family or business gathering, each of our three private rooms features authentic period detail, with fireplaces and original wide pine floorboards and woodwork. Additionally, we are able to provide customized-set menus for private diners and events as needed.

Build in 1802 and sporting several wood burning fireplaces, this restaurant is on a walking street in the heart of Harvard Square. With oysters 2 for $1 before 6PM, and half portions of homemade pasta and many other dishes, this is a place to return to...cozy, comfortable and friendly. The food is excellent, properly prepared and presented. In good weather,... More

If a star rating was based solely on atmosphere this place would be five plus stars!! Love the cozy rustic atmosphere here. Old wood floors and a fireplace. We dined in the bar area and loved it. The live music was loud but very good! Just made it a bit hard to catch up with old friends. We were there... More

Stopped for drinks here after a long walk up Massachusetts Avenue. It's an interesting place with a real character outside and in. There is an outside eating area in addition to the dining rooms at the rear. The bar area is relaxed and friendly and a good place to chill out with beer/wine and snacks, mainly seafood.

We went to this lovely restaurant today for lunch after checking TA reviews and were quite surprised with our experience. The positives were the well prepared, delicious food and the beautiful ambiance and our sweet young waitress. The place was much less busy than we expected and I think we know why. We were the only people to be seated,... More

The front of The Red House is deceptive as you are led down a hallway that opens onto the dining rooms. The service is excellent, the menu leans towards oysters and seafood, the wine list is short but sufficiently inclusive, and the beers represent craft breweries from across the country. Seats outside view the passing scene from the Square.

This place was great. I sat in the bar area (at a table) but they also have outdoor seating and more space in the back. The service was great as were the cocktails. I ordered the lobster carbonara and it was great, two of my favorite things in 1. Would be a great date spot as the whole place is... More

An excellent dining experience. Coming from the Midwest, good seafood is hard to find, so the Red House was a real treat. I had an amazing lobster risotto. Very comfortable for a single person there for a conference. I was not shunned or ignored as I have been at other places.

We were hungry and looking for something to eat, so we stumbled in here without any TA prior review. Food was very nice, atmosphere was good with some interesting student and academic types in the restaurant. I enjoyed my Lobster Risotto and my oysters were fine if not great (but they were cheap). This was a nice place to eat... More

This place had a great menu and ambiance, and before I ate, I was looking forward to returning the next night. Then, I ordered the lobster risotto. It was undercooked, the lobster was tough, and the whole dish had no flavor. For the price, it was a place I wouldn't go back to.

this was the most amazing experience. The service was EXCELLENT. We had a wonderfully , delightful , knowledgeable waiter ever. He was funny and taught us things about how to properly pour a glass of wine. We tried all kinds of delightful foods. Their Baked Black Misson Figs were to die for. So yummy!!!
