Description: The Red House specializes in locally-sourced, European & Mediterranean...
The Red House specializes in locally-sourced, European & Mediterranean inspired cuisine. Our seasonally changing menus features a variety seafood, poultry, and pasta dishes, many of which are prepared with greens and vegetables from our organic farm in Winchendon, MA. In crafting the restaurant's menu, owner Paul Overgaag and executive chef Marc Plourde have chosen to bring fresh organic foods and locally produced ingredients to center stage.

In addition to our main dining room and bar-area, the Red House also contains three intimate private dining rooms which can comfortably seat between 8 and 14 guests. Perfect for your next family or business gathering, each of our three private rooms features authentic period detail, with fireplaces and original wide pine floorboards and woodwork. Additionally, we are able to provide customized-set menus for private diners and events as needed.

Hard to Find but Worth It

Was with a friend who was on business and I had the days free. I wandered around Cambridge Square and found a little street, almost an alley. There was this cute "little" place, the Red House. The menu was wonderful. I had promised myself seafood everyday of my five day visit and had only managed... read more

Stumbled into this place on a weekend trip in Boston. Thought the restaurant very intimate with good food. A little pricey but a really nice place to stop for a beer or a sit down meal.

We only went for drinks at the bar, but were very impressed by the cozy atmosphere. The bartenders were very friendly, and the drinks were delicious. We sampled several of the drinks, and by far the favorite was the stork club. Highly recommend!

We enjoyed a pre-theater dinner at The Red House. While there is undeniable charm to this compact former cottage, I generally prefer a larger space with less forced intimacy. That aside, our meals were very good. Particular kudos for the Brussels sprouts "caesar" salad, and the Pan seared scallops. I was less impressed with the Day boat Cod picata style,... More

The Red House features an inventive menu that maintains a sense of coherence and integrity, without jumping on tangents like a lot of attempts at fusion that don't ultimately work. The small tavern setting bespeaks a genuine European-style intimacy, and the staff is casual but effective at serving customers and sustaining the ambiance. Even though the food is hardly top... We first ordered 2 dozen oysters per the pre 6pm special. Given the price (50 cents per ), I was not expecting much...they were great! We all enjoyed our meals and the atmosphere The Beef Wellington was suburb!!

A nice place with an interesting menu and decent service, but the food didn't live up to expectations. The Brussel Sprout Caesar was dry, as if it had no dressing, octopus was over grilled, but a duck confit roll was pretty tasty. Key lime pie was outstanding, but a flourless chocolate cake was just okay. Other dishes were equally varied.... More

Went here with friends for New Year's Eve - great place to have a leisurely dinner, talk and catch up. The brussel sprout caesar was delicious. My entree came cold and without asking it was taken off the bill Great location in busy Harvard Square

The Red House came highly recommended and did not disappoint. Cozy atmosphere with a nice selection. Portions were ample, well presented, and tasty. It's Boston, so give yourself PLENTY of time to find parking.

Had a great New Year's Eve dinner at the Red House. We definitely made the right choice. The atmosphere was very homey, the service from our server Amanda was perfect, and oh, the food was excellent! The caesar salad with brussels sprouts was very creative and tasty, and we had the Beef Wellington and Rib Eye steak, both of which... More
