Description: The Red House specializes in locally-sourced, European & Mediterranean inspired cuisine. Our seasonally changing menus features a variety seafood, poultry, and pasta dishes, many of which are prepared with greens and vegetables from our organic farm in Winchendon, MA. In crafting the restaurant's menu, owner Paul Overgaag and executive chef Marc Plourde have chosen to bring fresh organic foods and locally produced ingredients to center stage. In addition to our main dining room and bar-area, the Red House also contains three intimate private dining rooms which can comfortably seat between 8 and 14 guests. Perfect for your next family or business gathering, each of our three private rooms features authentic period detail, with fireplaces and original wide pine floorboards and woodwork. Additionally, we are able to provide customized-set menus for private diners and events as needed.

We met friends from out of town for dinner before attending a show. This is a cozy place with excellent food. We purposely chose a booth in the back away from the rooms with the fireplaces (too hot for us). Dishes were superbly prepared and presented. Service was attentive. The location off Harvard Square was convenient for getting to the... More

Well, let me know when you find it because it surely isn't at The Red House. I went here recently for their 2 for 1 oysters and when I finally got served they were definitely "off". And here is the real kicker, their beer was either a) warm (they said they left the kegs outside overnight, why would you do... More

i was pretty amazed when my food arrived it was really cool and extremly fine dining. I've never seen anything so go before in an European restaurant. I really like the environment around the restaurant. I love the lobster tomato linguine. It was the best fine dining food I ever seen. I mean seriously seriously good. I suggest the people... More

We went specifically for the seafood having read positive reviews on TA. We were not disappointed. I had the traditional steamed lobster and my wife the baked stuffed lobster. Both were excellent! I started with oysters which were extremely fresh and succulent whilst my wife had the baked figs , filled with goat cheese and wrapped in prosciutto !! I... More

We had a delightful meal at this nice restaurant, which is very conveniently located. The raw oysters were fresh and briny and priced right. The cold lobster and potato soup was unusual and wonderful. One of the best attributes is the choice of either a half or full portion--we had the excellent linguini with carciofi, and the half portion was... More

Have been to the Red House at least 5 times. Oysters .50 cents in aftearnoon; $1.00 in the evening. Can't beat the deal. Rest of menu very good. Outdoor seating without much view; indoor bar and restaurant seating; very quaint; old Cambridge family house that has maintained it's original feel; comfortable bar and table seating in funky room with fireplace... Had a break during visit to Harvard. Decided to leave stadium and walk to Harvard square. It was a sunday so very busy. We decided to find a quick bite to eat but our first few stops were to full. As luck would have it we spotted a outside high top at thr Red House and took a shot as... More

I started a job in Boston and my in-laws took me here for a celebratory dinner. I loved it! The food was great, but more important, it was decently quiet and intimate so we were able to talk. What I also liked was that some of the entrees could be ordered in 1/2 portions - which was great - because... More

It has decent cozy atmosphere but our experience did not turn out so well: they had to take our order a second time having lost the first, so this delayed our food, they were out of the swordfish, the dishes were very small, they did not refill our water, they forgot about my glass of wine, they brought one person's... This is a hidden gem, on one of the side streets in the heart of Harvard Square - and a fabulous place for food! The building is an old one, which is divided up into a number of rooms. The main room has a really large and wonderful skylight, which made the ambiance quite spacious and airy. The food was... More
