there are some great things here -- if you're lucky, the chef will have made a duck rillette appetizer special; the tarte flambee is pretty good, too; and my favorite is the croque-monsieur. well, actually, i go for the croque-madame (with egg). a great sandwich, but much better eaten with knife... read more

The food is very carefully prepared: Seasoning is perfect, ingredients impeccably fresh. French attention to detail prevails in the menu offerings as well as the comfortable surroundings. Sandrine's has you believing you're in France . . .

Sandrines has been our favorite place for lunch for years, but our last two experiences, since new ownership took over, have been very disappointing. What was for so long a lovely, european style bistro with excellent food, ambiance and service, is now mundane in appearance and cuisine. The biggest shock was '60s oldies playing in the not-distant-enough background. Our steak... More

we had a large party and we were i a private room. So the service was really great. We were all looking forward to having a meal at Sandrines and had high expectations. My husband and I had the pasta with lobster for the appetizer. So disappointing! We think the lobster was frozen- no excuse for that in Boston. Not... More

I would probably rate this as 4 and a half pips if I had the option. The food was excellent, but the service was a bit inattentive. The bistro is French with an Alsatian influence. The restaurant has a warm cozy bistro feel. We had gone with a group so we had a chance to try a good portion of... More

The food was very good, but what made it especially enjoyable was the lovely decor. With the stippled gold walls and dark curtains you could imagine you were in an elegant Paris retaurant.

Perhaps they were just having an off night because of the Head of the Charles rush, but I was very unimpressed with the service and overall experience at Sandrine's last Saturday night. We had a party of four, and I was seated right next to the computer where waiters input the orders. This meant that all night there was a... More

Your experience of Sandrine's will no doubt depend on what you're expecting. If, like us, you have come to love Sandrine's as a taste of Alsace, the recent departure of chef Ost (which we were not aware of until our recent dining experience) and the accompanying changes in decor and menu will likely leave you disappointed. No more tarte flambée,... More

I come to Cambridge at least once a month for work. I have been searching for a great place to have a nice glass of wine (in a crystal glass), a great meal, and a welcoming bar with comfortable seating. This place is amazing. So glad to have found it, and to have chatted with the owner, who was warm... More

I celebrated my birthday on September 29th at Sandrines in Cambridge and wasn't disappointed. When I arrived at 5:30, the hostess immediately ushered me to my table overlooking the street. I was at first concerned because the bar TV was directly behind me, but it never interferred with my evening. The waiter, Sherman, is definitely the restaurant's best ambassador. He... More
