Unfortunately, the cuilacoche is no longer on the menu, but still pretty good. Sort of a good "north of the border" place meets Rick Bayless (Frontera Grill/Topolobombo in chicago): interesting, not bad and less hype. A good selection of tequilas to start. Relatively inexpensive, with a range of moles some changing by the week, plus some good takes on fish.... more

Forest Cafe is right on Mass Ave between Harvard and Porter Squares. I'd walked by many times on weekday evenings and it had always been buzzing despite an exterior that said "nothing special."
