Description: The Elephant Walk serves Award-Winning Cambodian and French cuisine. We also feature strong VEGETARIAN and GLUTEN-FREE menus! With so much depth and breadth to our menus, both exotic and familiar, we have something for just about everyone. Cambodian cooking is beautiful and delicious, but still rare in America. Less hot and sweet than Thai, richer and more complex than Vietnamese, the complex spice pastes that are the foundation of many Cambodian dishes reflect Cambodia’s Indian ancestry. Our Cambodian menu features both traditional Cambodian dishes and originals created by our Chef/Owners Longteine and Nadsa de Monteiro, a Cambodian mother-daughter team born and raised in Phnom Penh. Why French too? Cambodia was a French colony for a century, ending in the 1950s. Consequently, our chef-owners were French-educated and grew up speaking French and enjoying French cuisine too. In other words, our Cambodian-and-French theme is an authentic reflection of…us!

My husband and I have been here a number of times. We love the unique melding of Cambodian and French foods. The decor has a sophisticated charm, and there's something comfortable and comforting about the layout of the restaurant. We've always had excellent service and have enjoyed the beautiful presentation of delicious offerings. This is a top-notch, high-end establlsihment. One... More

We came here with friends for our 30th college reunion, at the recommendation of another friend. We were not disappointed. This was creative and memorable food--NOT the sort of place I would have eaten at in college, but that is what we were looking for. The tuna was particularly notable. Attractively presented in a two color sauce, and unbelievably good.... More

I had walked past this restaurant many times as it is just 3 blocks from Porter Square. Finally went and wish we had eaten here earlier. Glad too that we made online reservations for a saturday night. Food and wine menu is eclectic combination of French and Cambodian Decor pleasant, noise level was moderate, and service was very efficient. We... More

The Elephant Walk is one of the few authentic high end French/Cambodian restaurants around. I have not been able to find one like this in the DC area despite a large Cambodian community. Our party of seven ordered several dishes, all delicious: the typically Cambodian Amok Royal, Crevettes Sur Mer (with tofu instead of shrimp), Crevettes Amrita with shrimp, and... More

We had dinner here on the recommendation of a friend last week. What a treat! The dining room was interesting, calming and attractive. The service was attentive. They start you off with a half of a perfect French baguette. So many of the menu items sounded wonderful that it was hard to choose. Many of them can be made vegan... More

I've eaten at the Elephant Walk many times and have always enjoyed it. The food is wonderfully prepared, and often unusual. Nothing I would cook at home. The atmosphere at the Cambridge restaurant is relaxing, and the service has been great every time I went. Highly recommend this place.

Menu is great for the curious and adventurous, but also offers some classic French dishes. The chicken soup really hit the spot on a cold night. Service on this occasion was slow; they seemed short-handed.

We ate lunch here and were very pleased with the food, service and atmosphere. We stuck mainly to the Cambodian food, but there are some nice French dishes available too. Food was prepared carefully and portions were very adequate. The lunch menu is very reasonable and the dinner menu somewhat more but still fairly priced for what you get. I... More

Varied new menu, must have new chefs. Well prepared, fresh, nice presentation with a hint of French elegance. Setting is a bit noisy but cozy. Servers gracious, very professional. Lovely dinner.

Had twice dined there in the course of one week, once for lunch once for dinner. Both occasions were delightful. Tasty and original dishes that offer the pellet nuanced and most appealing new tastes, very nicely presented, reasonable prices, and perfectly adequate service. the wine selection is limited but the wines offered both by the bottle and by the glass...
