The Elephant Walk serves Award-Winning Cambodian and French cuisine. We also feature strong VEGETARIAN and GLUTEN-FREE menus! With so much depth and breadth to our menus, both exotic and familiar, we have something for just about everyone. Cambodian cooking is beautiful and delicious, but still rare in America. Less hot and sweet than Thai, richer and more complex than Vietnamese, the complex spice pastes that are the foundation of many Cambodian dishes reflect Cambodia’s Indian ancestry. Our Cambodian menu features both traditional Cambodian dishes and originals created by our Chef/Owners Longteine and Nadsa de Monteiro, a Cambodian mother-daughter team born and raised in Phnom Penh. Why French too? Cambodia was a French colony for a century, ending in the 1950s. Consequently, our chef-owners were French-educated and grew up speaking French and enjoying French cuisine too. In other words, our Cambodian-and-French theme is an authentic reflection of…us!

As Good As Ever!

We come here every year or so and I'm happy to report that it's as delicious as ever. Great flavors, careful presentation, and plenty of non-meat options! We four especially enjoyed the Amok Royal (seafood in a savory custard) and the Tofu Amrita. Also, our server, David, was top-notch (skilled... read more

I went here for a nice dinner and I was really satisfied. It's an elegant but informal restaurant; you can wear casual clothes but also with something more formal you'll not feel out of place. The food was excellent, I fell that the Tuna I ate was one of the best of my life. Staff is cordial and can help... More

We were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance of the restaurant. And when the food came we were delighted with the subtle layers of various flavors. Highly recommended.

Came here for a birthday celebration and ordered Mee Siem Au Poulet, Saumon Rôti aux Saveurs d'Automne, Crêpe au Canard et Champignons and Boeuf Bourguignon, My favorite dish was the salmon, which had great seasoning and texture, and the Mee Siem Au Poulet, which had just a touch of spicyness and nice sweetness. All of the food in this restaurant... More

Offering the highest number of vegan and gluten free items we have seen in a restaurant that does not specialize in that variety of food, The Elephant Walk serves very good Cambodian and French food in a comfortable setting with lots of free parking right behind the building after 5 pm. Our waiter was terrific; she suggested that we might... More

Some friends and I gathered here recently for a wonderful meal. I hadn't been to The Elephant Walk in some years and was glad to see (and taste!) that it was still a great restaurant with a novel combination of French and Cambodian foods. We all opted for the prix fixe menu--your choice of three courses for $38. Most of... More

Food is fabulous. A bit more sugar than I prefer (typical SE Asian) but it is so unique and thrilling to the tastebuds. All my colleagues loved the choices of beer. They have a fixed prix menu. I suggest the catfish for entree and any of their soup as an appetizers. They broth is so elegant. A bit slow on... More

On a whim, we stopped in at the Elephant Walk without a reservation at 5:30 pm on a Saturday. They didn't have any seating until 8:00 pm but could accommodate us at the bar. They have full menu service at the bar! The bartender was our waiter and he was the bomb! We started with cocktails...a ginger lemon martini and... More

The Elephant walk as been one of my favorite restraints since it first opened in Somerville - maybe 20 years ago. Every meal is a culinary adventure and a delicious treat. The menu is French on one side and Cambodian on the other which allows for variety and different tastes. We always choose primarily from the Cambodian side and have... More

I have been in love with this restaurant since my grad student days 25 years ago. For food taste and quality, I think it is one of the best Asian restaurants in the country. Even my fickle son enjoys the food.
