Anyone tempted to go here after seeing it on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, should take another look at how the place was portrayed on the show. There was more commentary about the size of the portions than how tasty they were. Clearly the place has benefited from being on the show. There was a big lunch time crowd when we... More

this is great if you want large quantities of inexpensive, mediocre food. The cheese sauce is wonderful. I would suggest you get the horseshoe with ham and cheese sauce and american fries

We like this restaurant for breakfast. They are open until 2:00 pm each day and have a nice lunch selection. The service is fast and the food is good. On Sunday mornings you can plan to wait to be seated, but they take your cell phone number and text you when they can seat you. The restaurant is definitely a... More

I had always drove by here and never went in but I read somewhere that this place got voted number 6 best place to eat in Illinois, I personally could think of 6 better places in the springfield area. To be clear the food was just fine( I had steak and eggs) but just decent nothing to rave about

This is the third time I've been here and each time it's been ok. The interior is fun but DIRTY. The amount of dust on the neon signs and the ceiling fans was gross. The walls showed liquid and ketchup remains hadn't been wiped down. This place is busy all the time. I'm surprised they don't clean it more often/throughly... More

It's not a glamourous neighborhood (think industrial) and it's in a 40s Quonset Hut. It's small and there'll probably be a line out the door, but the tables turn quickly and it's worth the wait. It's named for Charlie Parker, nicknamed "Bird," an amazing jazz saxophone player back in the day. Clint Eastwood even made a movie about him. The... More

Down home, huge portions, gigantic pancakes. Service is swift. Place is often crowded but friendly. Eat there frequently.

What a fun experience, even though the place is small and very crowded. The blueberry breakfast casserole was phenomenal and the breakfast horseshoe was excellent. The food portions are more than enough for 2 people to share and the service and ambiance was excellent. Will definitely be back when visiting Springfield.

Finally coming through Springfield during the breakfast hours! Our timing was great and we were seated as soon as we walked in which was amazing. I had a delightful breakfast that included a platter sized blueberry pancake that was super. My husband had a breakfast horseshoe that he throughly enjoyed. Service was spectacular, always a treat to come here.

What a fun place in the middle of the industrial park. From the moment we stepped inside, we were talking non-stop. From traveling back to our childhood memories from the various records on the walls, to the wonderful, delicious and large portions of food. My husband had the breakfast shoe. He wondered if he could eat all of it, but... More
