This is downtown Springfield across the "street" from the Old State Capital. I think it's been in the same location for many, many years. They have amazing soups that are homemade which they start cooking at 6:30 every morning. The sign says they're open until 2 PM, including Saturdays, but have recently been told they aren't open on Saturdays anymore.... More

Rare find, a very busy restaurant at noon. The food was tasty. This is not a restaurant where you spend a leisure lunch. You order the lunch at he counter and they bring it to you..

Fast service, good food. My companion commented, "Best Rueben sandwich he had ever had"! My triple-deck sandwich was also excellent! Staff friendly too! All in all, great experience!!!

The soups here are to die for, the salads copious, and the sandwiches fresh. You place your order at the head of the line and are then seated while you wait to win the delivery "bingo" as servers call out ticket numbers for their trays. A unique serving style that adds to the kitsch of this small place. The soup... More

We ate here because it is right across the street from the old State Capital and for the "experience" of eating there. The building is lovely, the food just deli food. I had mushroom soup that tasted like canned soup, and a salad that had lunch meat turkey on it. The dressing was good. My husband had the Rueben that... More

If you want soup in Springfield, this is the best place to go. There are several different soups that you can get, but my favorites are the Wisconsin Cheese and the Potato. The place tends to get very busy, especially during tourist season. The building tends to be humid, probably attributed to how old it is. Not the greatest ambiance,... More

I was there yesterday, with my daughter and granddaughter for the first time. We arrived at 12:15, and even with standing in line to order, getting seated and getting our meals, we were out of there by 1:00. I ordered the Lox-Ness Monster, lox and cream cheese with capers and onions,on a bagel, my daughter ordered a hard salami and... More

So with a name like the feed store there was so much potential. And then not much to talk about. We ordered a variety of sandwiches and a couple of soups. If you made a deli sandwich at home this is the equivalent. However, the tomato bisque and the French potato soup are excellent. We had a turkey and ham... More

Sandwiches are mediocre at best but the macaroni salad makes up for any shortage in the sandwich. The soups are just ok but did I mention the macaroni salad? It's amazing!!!!!! You southern folks don't expect to order sweet tea here. It's all unsweetened with packets on the table. One thumb up and one thumb level. Bon appetit.
