The chili is good, if not terribly exciting. THe tamales are good, and not the usual tamales. Ask for a touch of hot, or you might think the chili is too bland. THe oil gives it a little heat, but don't go too crazy with it. Neat stop to make to say you've been there. THe counter staff are very... More

I think all of the proceeding post pretty well covers this place. As mentioned the chili here is one of a kind that you're not going to find anywhere else. I had eaten in this restaurant about thirty years ago and moved from the area and forgot about it. It was recently featured on Man vs. Food. Anyway I made... More

Went there recently for the second time. Originally saw it on Man v. Food and wanted to check it out. As the others have said... -Quick service. -The chili is oily and different than others you may have had, but we liked it. -It's hot. I tried the medium, and it made me sweat. They also have a mild, hot... More

Those few who wrote the chilli has no flavor must not have tastebuds! My usual is medium bowl of touch, light oil/beans w/ a tamale or hotdog. The heat is in the meat. Yes they only accept cash, is kinda costly for chilli, limited parking/hrs, but is oh so tasty & worth it!

The chili was ok, the tamales tasted pre made, there was no air conditioning (it was hot in there), have them hold the oil. We we not greeted by the counter staff. The owner was very nice and personable. My friend did the firebrand chili challenge and said that was good. Kind of pricy and they only take cash.

We've visited Springfield for years and never noticed this little place on 9th Street. Once we saw it we had to stop and try the chili. You enter and walk to the counter to order. She had the mild/medium. I got the medium hot and a Denburger. The food was served up before I got my change! (Cash only here.)... More

This was honestly the worst place I could have eaten in Springfield. The service was pathetic and I quickly overheard the workers spewing terrible language and insults among themselves about the customers and spent too much time on their phones. On top of that, my order was incorrect and when it was finally given to me, the grease made the... More

Love that you can have them mix up exactly what YOU like in your chili. Feel like no beans? Done. Feel like extra meat? Done. Want it spicy hot? Done. Want it mild? Done. And the combinations go on and on. Love this place!

. . . not necessarily a good thing. I ordered a special - chili, tamale and drink. It was plenty of food. First, the tamale was nothing special, I would not order it again. Now the chili - I grew up on oily chili so I knew what to expect. If you haven't had it before, you should order it... More

Visit springfield area a few times a year and always find time to stop by here and get my fix. I like the medium with a touch chili and the den burgers. The chili is very different as in nobody ever makes it this way anymore. The taste is awesome very greasy, the heat is a little much if you... More
