I am sure they can do better as far as quality and taste is concerned. Some of the curries (especially non-veg) are too oily. Plus, the price is bit upscale keeping people away. The food is usually really good, but you can definitely tell when the main chef isn't working. Sometimes the food is just downright bad. Not much atmosphere at the restaurant. We usually go for carryout. A little bit pricey. more
I am not a connoisseur of Indian food, but we go to Gateway to India regularly - one or more of our family will go at least once a week - and we always look forward to the experience. I think this restaurant is one of the best Indian restaurants in the world! The flavor was phenomenal. The Goan shrimp curry and green masala were soooooo good. The reviewer that state the food was recycled must not hate the food that much since the picture he took showed their plates empty. more
We insist on coming to Gateway to India for dinner every time we are in Springfield. We have eaten at many Indian restuarants in Chicago, Miami, and the DC area and this is among the best. My mother lives in Springfield, and when I visit I insist that we eat at Gateway to India. I live in New York City, and this restaurant is as good as some of the best Indian restaurants in the city. Absolutely the worst Indian food I have ever had at a restaurant. Food was completely tasteless and inedible. Not even a single item that we ordered was worth enjoying.
