When in Springfield - Horseshoe Sandwich

We ate here twice on our recent stay. I had a breakfast 'Horseshoe Sandwich', and a supper 'Horseshoe Sandwich'. Both were very good.

We ate breakfast here after our stay at the President Lincoln Doubletree. Because we were hotel guests, we were somewhat of a "captive audience" for choosing this restaurant, as it is the only breakfast choice on the premises. We arrived toward the end of the breakfast buffet hours, but still with at least an hour left in the posted hours.... More

On Sunday evening, the restaurant was closed, so I ate at the bar. I ordered the pork chop with risotto and cannellini beans. The chop wasn't done to my requested specifications, but close. The risotto was nice, but not spectacular. The beans were cooked with apple, although they were just fine without the fruit. Overall, a satisfying meal, but...

We were staying at the Abraham Lincoln hotel, and the restaurant advertised a prime rib dinner special. We ate fairly early (about 6:00 pm) in the evening and there were very few customers in the restaurant. I ordered the prime rib special and knew the moment it was delivered at my table that it wasn't going to work out well.... More

Not a large menu, BUT what we had for breakfast and lunch was excellent and prices were not bad either.

Lindsay's offered a special buffet for our conference attendees - $10 included buffet and drink. The buffet was well-stocked, clean, and tasty and the service was excellent as well!

We made the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel our base of operations during our two-day trip to Springfield, Illinois, and were very impressed when he opted to have breakfast at Lindsay's prior to leaving for a visit to New Salem State Park, one of the stops on the Lincoln Lore agenda. The Abraham Lincoln, formerly the Renaissance Hotel, has undergone considerable... More

Lindsay's restaurant has the best food around and the prices are reasonable. The chef is to be commended for attention to detail and presentation.
