While in town overnite for out-patient surgery, we tried to find Charlie Parkers resturant, as seen on t.v. Because they only serve b-fast & lunch, we had to move to plan-b. My parents were tranfered to Springfield in the late 50's and happened on this place. We have driven the 90 plus miles one way since we moved back to St. Louis area in the early 70's. Nothing fancy, just great hot thin crust pizza and hot beef sandwiches. I hate the chain pizza places. Daughter of original family runs it... more

This is defintely not the best pizza in town. It's glorified matzah with some toppings. The flavor is decent, but the pizza is unfulfilling, especially for the price. The place is run down and dirty, screaming of a place resting on an old rep. Overall, not a terrible dining experience, but I won't be back. more

Our family "Griswold" driving vacation this summer included a stop in Springfield for the Lincoln Museum & Library. Based on the reviews on this site, I selected Gabatoni's as a place where we would enjoy the atmosphere, would be kid-friendly, and have good food... we were not disappointed! We sampled the pizza, lasagne, ravioli and horseshoe meals... all were fabulous!... more
