Fresh food, slowish service

We stopped in here on a whim when hunger got the better of us, and we saw people eating outside. We were happy we did. The day we went the place was overrun with Civil War re-enactors, so it was very busy, but also pretty fun to discover a table of generals nearby. We were seated quickly and were... read more

I didn't know what to expect from this restaurant until I saw the menu. Even then, I was a little hesitant because of the offerings. However, when my good arrived, it was delicious and do was my husband's good! The service was excellent and the atmosphere was terrific. I highly recommend it!

By far one of the best places to eat in Springfield, Illinois. Specialized gourmet menu features fresh ingredients and a touch of beauty in each dish. Desserts are divine and worth a trip downtown for dinner.when people come to visit me I always take them to Augies! LOVE!

We stopped in Augies after the reenactment of lincoln's funeral just across from the Old State Capitol in Springfield. Several reenact orbs of the union generals present were seated but my date and I ate at the bar. The service was prompt, friendly and efficient. The bar features local brews and spirits. My fiancée had the lemonade and vodka special,... More

For our 40th wedding anniversary we happened to be in Springfield for my husband's meeting. Without a doubt, we made reservations weeks in advance for our favorite restaurant, Augie's Front Burner! Our server, Liz, was wonderful! Very attentive but did not hover - never referred to us as "you guys" (which I detest). We asked that we be allowed a... More

We had a great lunch, excellent service, great atmosphere. My friend was visiting and I thought it would be nice to have lunching historic downtown Springfield. Augie's got such great reviews, I decided to try their food. I had the turkey Rueben sandwich with potato salad. It was great - crunchy bread, the right proportions of meat, cheese, sauerkraut, and... More

We enjoy Augies on a regular basis. We enjoy the use of local produce and unique dishes. We never leave hungry and are always stuffed to the brim! The staff is top notch and the resturant is very cozy during the winter months. Lunches on the patio are a favorite as well. Stop in duiring the summer and grab a... More

Went Downtown...not the west side, nor the east. parked in back and actually ate in downtown Springfield. Excellent food , good service. Be patient, it is not a chain that rushes you in and out-which takes a different mind set. Walk out and see the capitol building, the old Myers building, a city scape. Great all round experience.

Five of us had a birthday dinner celebration and as always we were not disappointed at Augie's. Excellent wines for a reasonable price (go on Tuesday for half price on many botlles). Cheese plate and black bean appetizers were delicious and ample for our group. Jerk chicken entree is outstanding and one of our favorites. 3 of us had off... More

To begin, this restaurant is clearly worth trying. My salmon was exceptional and my friend commented that his pork chop (one of the nightly specials) was truly outstanding. We got off to a rough start. My friend ordered a martini and was clear - no fruit or olives. When the waitress brought the martini she said "I decided to add... More
