Easily the best restaurant in Springfield. Excellent, elegant french style cuisine with Midwest flair. All small and large dishes we've tried have been stellar (and encompass more than half of the menu). Excellent cocktails and desserts as well. Service is unbeatable for town as is atmosphere. Prices are VERY reasonable for what you get, but be prepared to spend a... more

Maldaner's is still a handsome eating spot with just the right air of formality. We went there for lunch and my horse shoe sandwich was perfectly acceptable. However, my wife described her chicken salad sandwich as "generic" and our hostess commented that her monte cristo sandwich was not what it once was. more

Late Friday night we stopped in the first place we walked past. We had no knowledge of this place before choosing it but had a very pleasant light dinner. The server allowed us to split our checks --- sorry I even had to ask but one of us was traveling on business and the other wasn't. Generous pour on the... more

This is an older restaurant with an older clientele. We ordered the house specialty of Beef Wellington. We waiting about 45 minutes. We noticed that everyone was waiting quite awhile for their food. The service was great, but the food not so much. The Beef Wellington didn't have much flavor. Two out of three of us had a bad cut... more

Ate lunch here two days in a row. Had Chicken salad on homemade bread. It was the BEST! My husband had the ham turkey sandwich on homemade rye. Lots of meat. Women could split. We also had clam chowder and homemade vegetable soup. Everything we had was great. We ate outside first day and inside second day. Both were nice.... more

This classic Springfield eatery offers fine dining at a reasonable price and in a charming old building that evokes an era in Springfield that Lincoln might have recognized. In addition to the food, the wine list and wait staff are quite good. On a recent visit my wife enjoyed roast quail stuffed with a delicious, home made sausage, and I... more

My husband and I were referred by the Inn at 835 about this wonderful restaurant so we expected it to be good. It was better, it was awesome. The wait staff was so attentive we wondered if they were psychic. The food was absolutely wonderful. Drinks were tasty and we left well satisfied. We can't wait to go back as... more

Although I grew up in Springfield, I've been away for thirty years. On a recent visit with my son, I tried several Springfield restaurants -- including Maldaner's. We wound up going back twice. The food was dramatically better than anything else we were able to find in the city. (We did not try any of the steak houses, and we... more

First off; Maldaner's is closed on Monday nights for dinner but they open up for private parties. The owner-chef and Manager (Michael Higgins) has an annual "Fried Chicken Dinner" each year about mid July. Myself and my wife were there at the party again this year and had a wonderfull time as always! Chef Michael Higgins invites many people to... more
